I know she'd have to spell it out, but the same is true of many names and at least it's quite short! We have reasons for wanting Aerin rather than Erin.

How would you pronounce this? Air-in or E-rin? Or another way?

She'll be half Irish although we are in the Uk, would it be a strange name to have if she moved to Ireland?

Do you like Aerin?

I'm Irish and I've never heard of it. Erin yes but not a Aerin. She'll be forever spelling it and telling others how to pronounce it.

I would definitely say Air-in.
I don't dislike it but it's not a name I've heard before so it would take a bit of getting used to for me :)

Estee Lauder's granddaughter is called Aerin. It's a lovely name. I always assumed it was pronounced Air-in.

I like it, there was a character in Farscape called Aerin who was totally kick-ass fantastic. I would pronounce it Air-in, but then that's how I would pronounce Erin too.

She is Aeryn spelling I think. Never been into Farscape but I've heard good things!

I'd say Air-in and would spell it Aeryn unless told otherwise, like the Farscape character. As bran said, she's an awesome kick ass character. It is one of the names we considered for DDs middle name (we may still go there as she still hasn't got one at 5months!) we have actually got a rat named Aeryn too

I'd say AIR-in. I quite like it, I get a sort of ethereal/fantasy LOTR vibe from it.

I only know it from Aerin Lauder's perfume line called 'Aerin'. I'd pronounce it Air-in and I really like it.

Would pronounce it Air-in and think it's very pretty. Aeris is nice too.

Really like the name. I would say Air-in also.

Loyly I got some for Christmas but find it very cloying :(

Aerin is a beautiful name, but phonetically it says Air-in so anyone who can read properly will pronounce it that way and if corrected tbh I would assume her parents couldn't spell Blush sorry! Definitely go for it if you like air-in but if you want Erin then use Erin Grin

Weirdly to my eye it looks like it would be eye-rin. But if you told me to say Erin I would!

I've only heard of it from Estee Lauder's granddaughter Aerin, as someone else mentioned above.

I don't think there'd be any issues if she moved to Ireland, in fact it would probably be better than Erin which is very American Irish.

I like it spelled Aeryn (and Farscape was brilliant) but Aerin reminds me of urine.

I'd pronounce it like air-rin, like an American pronouncing Erin/Aaron.

I think I prefer the spelling Aeryn.

I'd pronounce it Air-in. Reminds me of the character Aeryn in Farscape, and Aerin from the book 'The Hero and the Crown' by Robin McKinley.

It's phonetically beautiful but much prefer Aeryn as a written word.

Aeryn is nice too but if we aren't trying to name her after Farscape is that a bit weird? I thought perhaps it looked a bit made up.
Aerin is a feminine form of Aaron (hebrew name), but either spelling would probably work.

I like it! (But my ds is Aaron - pronounced the same. Chose it because it sounded strong but also a bit ethereal.)

I'm Irish and Aeryn looks a bit like aneurysm or something. Or a bit Lord of the Rings.

What about Arwen?

Erin is soup. Which is OK. I like Merrin or Arwen but I'm not mad about Aerin.

My daughter is called Erin. We considered using the spelling Aerin for a while but decided against it due to the constant having to spell it out. Both my first name and my surname always needs to be spelt out or people get it wrong and it drives me absolutely mad, so I didn't want to do this to my daughter. Therefore we stuck with the more accepted version.
I met a woman at a baby group whilst I was pregnant and her daughter was called Aerin. Straightaway after telling me her daughters name she said "But it's spelt with an A E."
That decided it for me, I didn't want to have to go through the rigmarole of spelling her name everytime I introduced her.
Pronouncing it Air-in may help somewhat, but I think you'll still get people spelling it Erin (which is a lovely name anyway 😉).
