For a girl, just looking for opinions! Smile

Fine until someone calls her Quim

Isadora2007 · 17/04/2017 23:28

Yuck

Mind you it's better for a girl than a boy. My (ex)friend has a son called Quinn... I think it's odd.

HotSince82 · 17/04/2017 23:29

Sorry but I think its awful.

thebakerwithboobs · 17/04/2017 23:34

Quim

Queensparkles · 17/04/2017 23:35

What does Quim mean?

MazDazzle · 17/04/2017 23:36

I know someone locally who's just named their daughter Quinn.

Admittedly, it sounds quite pretty, but quim is the first thing that sprung to my mind, but I doubt the mother is aware of the reference.

SuburbanRhonda · 17/04/2017 23:36

Oh bless you, OP Grin

MazDazzle · 17/04/2017 23:37

Quim - old fashioned word for female genitalia.

Queensparkles · 17/04/2017 23:38

I just googled it haha I've literally NEVER heard that word, think it's an English thing

Quinny is an.old elizabethan term for your vadge. Definitely one to avoid IMO.

FeralBeryl · 18/04/2017 00:12

I love it - but yep there's always 'Quim' to consider. But you could say the same about Billy/Willy Annie/Fanny etc.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 18/04/2017 06:49

I remember Quinn as Daria's popular and vain little sister, loved the name and still do. I wouldn't think of "Quim", I've barely heard that term and as a PP pointed out, people still call their children William despite Willy being a much more common slightly rude connotation.

SofiaAmes · 18/04/2017 06:54

I think it's a lovely name for a boy or a girl.

SuperBeagle · 18/04/2017 06:55

I'm in Australia and have never heard of "quim", so Quinn here would be fine.

I like it. Reminds me of the (female) Quinn from One Tree Hill, as well as the Quinn from Daria.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 18/04/2017 07:01

Homeland!!!

grufallosfriend · 18/04/2017 08:35

I only know boy Quinns. It sounds so strong and masculine like Finn or Flynn.

Never heard of quim though Hmm

grufallosfriend · 18/04/2017 08:37

Agree, William (Willy) is much more common and easily teasable. Most kids know Willi but won't have heard of quim.

The Mighty Quinn?

NataliaOsipova · 18/04/2017 08:41

Another Homeland fan here! (Though Quinn was his surname, wasn't it? I think his first name was Peter?...)

MrsJayy · 18/04/2017 08:41

Not 1 person is going to call her Quim or Quinny Hmm op if you like the name use it.

usernumbernine · 18/04/2017 08:42

I think Quinn is a boys name - I only know of it for boys, and I am ancient and therefore think of the song I linked up there - the mighty Quinn.

MrsJayy · 18/04/2017 08:43

I have seen a couple of Quinns in Us tv programmes (glee and Scandal) both female.

ShotsFired · 18/04/2017 08:45

Watched a lot of Scandal have you, OP? Wink mind you, at least it isn't Olivia

In general, one syllable names always sound very harsh, and adding a Y to soften it ("Quinny"? Ugh) makes them sound infantile.

Bet you can't guess how I know all this...!

EdithWeston · 18/04/2017 08:47

Quinn is traditionally a boy's name (as a pet form of Quinton) and a couple of recent TV programmes might prove less enduring about which sex usually receives the name than the long-standing use in U.K.

It's too surname for me. And as pointed out it has a highly unfortunate sound-a-like association.

usernumbernine · 18/04/2017 08:55

Quincy is a brand of pram!
