Why ever not?Confused

Well, if I live in country A and am asking for views on names from country A, I would rather have views from other people who are accustomed to those names, who know how to pronounce them, who know the cultural associations of the names. What could people from country B tell me? Which name sounds the best according to their country's pronunciations which may be completely different to mine?

Gallavich

Did I miss something or why do we know the OP doesn't live in the UK? Or maybe has an English partner/is planning on moving or Idk...?

Dutch are we, OP? I like Bram best as it works internationally and the others don't so much

Gallavich · 17/04/2017 11:31

Nope, they didn't say where they live. It's usually included though to fend off the 'weird names, sound made up' crew. So I'm assuming they aren't in the U.K. Answers would depend on that anyway - if living in the U.K. then issues of pronunciation or names sounding like rude English slang etc are relevant, not so if living in country of origin.
I stand by my posts! OP should specify whether they are in the U.K. or not and if not should be posting on Dutch mumsnet for relevant views as ours are absolutely irrelevant imo.

If you are in a Dutch speaking country, Bram and Guus are fine, braam is a fruit. Guus wouldn't really work in a non Dutch speaking country, Bram fine.
Alfons and Elbert, just no.

YoungYolandaYorgensen39 · 17/04/2017 17:03

I like Elbert!

I like all of them actually but not sure Guus will be pronounced well if the family's planning to live in the U.K.
