What do you think of Eisley for a girls names (eyes lee)?

It's not really heard of over here I have become familiar with it from browsing American baby name blogs/sites!

I have a feeling it will get torn to shreds here Wink

I like it and it's growing on me but I'm not sure if it would work over here!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Gallavich · 09/04/2017 20:13

No, really bad

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 09/04/2017 20:15

I think you would be setting her up for a lifetime of having to correct pronunciation and spell it out every time she says it. Isla is easier but similar.

00100001 · 09/04/2017 20:17

As long as you don't mind and don't think your daughter would mind doing a lifetime of:

Spelling the name out.
Saying the name for someone when they read it.
Correcting the pronunciation
Explaining the name.
Receiving a blank stare when the name is mentioned
Insisting that "no it is a real name"
"yes, my/her name really us Eisley"

Then go for it

LateToTheParty · 09/04/2017 20:17

I haven't heard it used as a name. It sounds unisex or male to me, but mostly reminds me of Star Wars! (the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine).

Redyellowpinkblue · 09/04/2017 20:17

2/10

Not my cup of tea at all, and doesn't sound likes it's spelled either so it's a no from me.

smashyourglasses · 09/04/2017 20:20

I quite like this one.

smashyourglasses · 09/04/2017 20:25

The Isley Brothers is the only similar thing i can think of, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Pallisers · 09/04/2017 20:27

I'm in the US and have never heard of it and wouldn't think "oh what a lovely name" when I heard it. I'd presume it was a surname from the family being used as a first name.

Topseyt · 09/04/2017 20:31

Don't like it. It doesn't even really sound like a name.

Marmalade85 · 09/04/2017 20:32

Sounds like Elvis Presley mushed together

Floggingmolly · 09/04/2017 20:33

Awful, sorry.

ChippieFishieHorshie · 09/04/2017 21:16

It's not particularly awful imo. But I'm not really convinced, tbh...

Oysterbabe · 09/04/2017 21:18

It does have that made up sound about it.

JanuaryJuniper · 09/04/2017 21:47

Ok ok, I had actually gone off it by the time I got back to the thread but that has doubly made me discount it. Thanks anyway Grin

squoosh · 09/04/2017 22:47

Her brother would be Isley's Brother

Floggingmolly · 09/04/2017 22:52

squoosh. Grin

pieceofpurplesky · 10/04/2017 00:29

I thought about the Star Wars cantina too.
How about Bexley - I know one and she sometimes shortens it to Bex. It's a similar style ...

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 10/04/2017 08:11

Isla is lovely OP, and similar.

Thatextrainch · 10/04/2017 08:52

I don't think it's terrible but I find it quite hard to say.

Choccyhobnob · 10/04/2017 09:37

purplesky my family are from Bexley Grin

pieceofpurplesky · 10/04/2017 10:11

Choccy I have friends from there - it's a lot better than Mos Eisley though and can be shortened to Bex!

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 10/04/2017 10:46

Glad you've gone off it OP - it's a terrible name imo

BasicBetty · 10/04/2017 11:08

Too similar to Ainslie for me. Not keen, sorry.
