I'm looking for opinions on the name Kara Casey (as in her surname will be Casey). We're thinking middle name Leilani. Kara pronounced kar-ruh and leilani pronounced lay-lah-nee.

Honest opinions please!!

My baby sister (now 18) is Kara, she loves it and the fact its with a K makes it a littke unique. I think its lovely

SuperBeagle · 04/04/2017 07:21

I prefer the Cara spelling.

But I prefer Chiara (prn. Kee-ah-rah).

FearMe · 04/04/2017 07:28

Cara is better, but I detest Irish names being misspelled! So would prefer the authentic spelling. Do like the name though.

CadburyMellos · 04/04/2017 07:28

I'm having twins and we've chosen Cara for one and Connie for the other but we also like Cara and Casey! So definitely gets a thumbs up from me.

Cara isn't just an Irish name, its Italian, meaning beloved, from the Latin Carus, so Cara is a legit spelling and a lot less hassle than Caragh or Caera.

squoosh · 04/04/2017 10:41

Cara is the Irish spelling. Not Caragh or Caera.

Kara is really nice and it's fine with Casey. However, Leilani is awful. Sorry.

MaroonPencil · 04/04/2017 10:49

I like Kara because Starbucks/ Battlestar Galactica, although I thought she was called Karen for about two series because of the accent.

TiredCluelessMummy · 04/04/2017 10:49

I love the way it sounds but definitely prefer Cara to Kara. I think Kara looks quite harsh written down and it has a completely different tone as a name. To me, Kara is in the same vein as Kai, Kayden, Kenzie etc. whereas Cara looks more traditional and "solid". But that's just me and my personal preference. Lots of people think traditional names are boring.

MaroonPencil · 04/04/2017 10:50

Starbuck! Autocorrect turned her into a coffee shop.

MaroonPencil · 04/04/2017 10:52

I think of Kara as being a Scandinavian name, I don't know if it is.

floraeasy · 04/04/2017 11:08

I prefer Cara. Very pretty.

I love it with the surname.

I don't think the middle name works.

PaintingOwls · 04/04/2017 11:18

I knew someone called Kara who was really irritating so i now duslike the name.

Cara is better.

MrsMarigold · 04/04/2017 11:22

Cara is better than Kara, I also like Clara.

Dixiestamp · 04/04/2017 23:39

I like it (with a K or a C)- love the whole name!

spiderlight · 06/04/2017 12:01

Just an observation - her initials will be KC, which sounds like Casey. Probably no biggie but might cause confusion!

DeborahFallis77 · 06/04/2017 13:01

Love it. Cara over Kara though.

ludog · 08/04/2017 18:08

I have a Cara and our surname is a two syllable beginning with C. It goes fine together and is better than with a K IMHO.

deluxetrolley · 10/04/2017 02:06

Another vote for Cara with a C, think it goes well with your surname!
