What do you think about the name? My husband likes Lainey, so this is the more formal name.

I think it's a surname. Don't like it as a first name, especially if it's for a girl.

dontbesillyhenry · 01/04/2017 22:32

Ridiculous but I expect it's the name of a character in some American teen drama

ErrolTheDragon · 01/04/2017 22:35

it reminds me of one of my mother's party pieces, which was reciting a version of Delaney's Chicken .

It's a Irish surname.

I'd have thought the more formal form of 'Lainey' was Elaine?

DramaAlpaca · 01/04/2017 22:37

As Errol says it's an Irish surname.

It's awful as a first name.

Just go with Lainey if you like it.

BiscuitMillionaire · 01/04/2017 22:38

Guess you haven't been watching Taboo, then?

user1483387154 · 01/04/2017 22:39

I know it as a surname so wouldnt use it as a first name

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 01/04/2017 22:41

I like Lainey. I think Delaney works as a middle name but I wouldn't use it as a first name, just go for Lainey on its own.

KanyeWesticle · 01/04/2017 22:42

Delaney isn't bad but i love Elaina/Laney

Imaginingdragonsagain · 01/04/2017 22:43

I wouldn't.

Sunshineandlaughter · 01/04/2017 23:25

No

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 01/04/2017 23:27

Boy?
Girl?

Puppy?

raspberryblush23 · 01/04/2017 23:29

What about Elena or something similar? My DD is Laina and we use Lainey for a nn. That said if you really like Delaney and it goes with the surname, why not.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/04/2017 23:58

Madelaine (Lainey).

reuset · 02/04/2017 00:16

"Boy?
Girl?

Puppy?"

My thoughts too, Chardonnay Grin

KoalaDownUnder · 03/04/2017 04:18

Much prefer Elena/ Elaina/Laine/Layne

Jemimapiddleduck · 03/04/2017 05:15

I love Delaney but only because I know a Delaney.

Friends of ours are also considering it for a first name for their son

Platimum · 03/04/2017 05:26

I like it. I know it's a sur name but like Bellamy, it's attractive.

I havent watched whatever showe the pp mentioned though. If it's a character in a show that would put me off. Della just Della is nice.
