A boy or a girl? What would you assume first?
Thanks!

Make no assumptions on that name!

TheMasterNotMargarita · 01/04/2017 08:03

Girl

BeyondThePage · 01/04/2017 08:03

boy.

I know 2.

NameChange30 · 01/04/2017 08:03

Wouldn't assume because I know both a boy and girl called Rowan. It's a lovely name!

flowery · 01/04/2017 08:03

A boy.

DS1 is Rowan.

mrsnoon · 01/04/2017 08:03

Girl

smilingsarahb · 01/04/2017 08:04

The only one I know is a girl, but it's unisex

ZeroDarkHurty · 01/04/2017 08:04

Either. I know am adult male Rowan and an 8 year old girl Rowan.

Scribblegirl · 01/04/2017 08:04

Either. I know a Rowan irl, she's lovely, but until I knew her I probably would have thought boy.

elephantoverthehill · 01/04/2017 08:05

I love the name, but would immediately think they were a ball of wool Smile

flowery · 01/04/2017 08:05

But actually the fact that I have a boy Rowan is the only reason I would assume. Otherwise I wouldn't, and after thinking about it for a few seconds I would 'un'assume and check.

londonfeather · 01/04/2017 08:05

Know one man called rowan

Bubbinsmakesthree · 01/04/2017 08:05

Boy would be my first thought.

Gizlotsmum · 01/04/2017 08:05

Boy but only because the Rowan I know is a boy...if I knew a girl with that name I would think girl but can be either

Ollycat · 01/04/2017 08:06

Boy

Paninotogo · 01/04/2017 08:06

A plump girl with a bowl haircut. (my NDN in 1987)

ExitPursuedByUser54321 · 01/04/2017 08:07

Either.

HarleyQuinzel · 01/04/2017 08:08

Boy

HayleyIsMyNemesis · 01/04/2017 08:09

Elephantoverthehill - me too Grin

Licketysplits · 01/04/2017 08:09

I only know 2 boys, so I would think boy. But I do think it's a nicer name for a girl tbh

WateryTart · 01/04/2017 08:10

Boy, my cousin.

PegLegAntoine · 01/04/2017 08:27

Mixed bag! Thanks all so far. I like it either way but I prefer it for a girl, can't quite articulate why! We have more boy names anyway so would be less likely to use it if baby is a boy.

:o at ball of wool.

I've not used a unisex name before, is it annoying for children when people make assumptions? Or am I overthinking?
