Ocsock my grandad was Leonard but we all called him Len, he was the most wonderful, funny, brilliant man who lived in to his nineties and was loved by all.

OP I love the name and would call my son it too. People have commented to me before when I've said it quite harshly that he would get bullied which to me is ridiculous, I was bullied for far less than my name as a child. It's a lovely, traditional name with connotations of bravery. Go for it! Lenny is a cute nickname too x

Leonard is a family name so we've used it as a middle name for DC. It's definitely not Leo-nard though. Unless you're a native French speaker, which is the only scenario that makes that pronunciation sound correct!

Len, Leo, Lenny, etc, all good NNs - gives your DC a choice

Duggee my grandmother was French and married to our grandad Len for 50 years, he was always Len or 'Lennard' when she said it. Never heard her say Leo-nard! Pronouncing it that way sounds like an unfinished Leonardo to my ears! :)

I think it's awful, sorry. Plus my DP says 'going for a Leonard' instead of 'going for a poo' so further put off by that!

I don't associate it with the nn Lenny, tbh. But I imagine that's an English language thing.

I wanted it as a boy's name with the NN Lev (Russian), but DH vetoed. He's happy with Leonid, which I don't like .

I've heard of a few babies called this and they've all suited it.

It had a small surge in popularity at the start of The Big Bang theory.

I know two Lennys my daughter's age (18 months), both named after their grandads!
