Help with girls' names... moon on a stick needed!

I am pregnant with my second child and know it is going to be a girl. I already used my all-time favourite girl's name on DD1, though! (She's Maya Grace).

I don't really have my heart set on anything, but everything I do like, DP dislikes. And I don't really like anything he suggests, either. The first name needs to:

  • go well with a last name that starts with a vowel
  • be ok in Hebrew
  • be ok in English (obviously! but worth stating because there are some lovely Hebrew names that I just don't think translate well. And I'm a non-Hebrew-speaker so nothing I can't pronounce!)
  • it would be fantastic if it was also Sanskrit in origin, but I realise this is unlikely along with other constraints
  • a little bit bohemian or unusual is good

I quite like Joy as a middle name, but if we end up choosing a non-Hebrew name for the first name then would be happy with a Hebrew middle name.

Another vote for Talia. Ticks all your boxes IMO. Also really like Kezia(h) (except it rhymes with Maya, surely? so no good) and Amaris.

Zoe means dawn.

Susannah?

HeteronormativeHaybales · 27/03/2017 11:43

I knew a Damaris once, which I think is just unutterably sophisticated and cool.

DaisyBlameless · 27/03/2017 11:50

Kezia and Maya don't rhyme do they?

MamaSchmama · 27/03/2017 11:51

Sugarpiehoneyeye, we have such similar taste in names!

Heteronormative, thanks. I love the name Damaris but DP vetoed it last time around. Unfortunately he's also decided that Talia is a no (although he suggested Tal so I thought it might be ok!).

I really love the name Miriam but it's the name of another close relative (with the same last name) unfortunately. And so is Zoe. Both would otherwise be very much on the list though!

Anna/Hannah is the Hebrew equivalent of Grace, which is already DD1's middle name, so won't go there although it's pretty.

I will definitely add Juliet and Eden to the list to run past DP, along with Asha and Dalia from earlier. Amaris is good too.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, I really appreciate it!
