Hi all,

What do you think of the name Mars/Marz? I know it isn't very common so I'm not sure what others think of it. How do you think it should be spelt?

Thanks

Not a fan. It's a chocolate bar

Zoe1983 · 25/03/2017 11:16

Just no.

Aridane · 25/03/2017 11:16

No, just no. Especially Marz

DaisyBlameless · 25/03/2017 11:17

Should be spelled as Mark or Lars.

janniedodger · 25/03/2017 11:17

Its a no from me.

Haffdonga · 25/03/2017 11:18

Marz???

Oh dear me no.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 25/03/2017 11:18

It's a planet/chocolate bar in my mind

What about Mario, Mark, Marco?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/03/2017 11:18

English people will read it as the name of a chocolate bar or a god of war. Are you from a different culture, OP?

Belle1102 · 25/03/2017 11:18

Definitely not. If you absolutely have to go with it then mars is marginally better than Marz

CoolCarrie · 25/03/2017 11:19

You would be setting your child up for a bloody awful time at school
What about Marcus?

PacificDogwod · 25/03/2017 11:19

März is the German word for the month of March.

'Martial' is derived from Mars, the god of war according to mythology.

Personally, I don't like the sound of what it sounds like, and I don't like the connotations, so another no from me.

Lars is nice though Smile

Haffdonga · 25/03/2017 11:20

Mars is god of war.

War fan, OP?

portico · 25/03/2017 11:21

Clearly the baby is an accessory to you, hence publicing the oddball name to all. Same school class as Blue Ivy, Kai, Princess et al.

PacificDogwod · 25/03/2017 11:22

I just looked it up - god of war as a power to peace, rather than Ares (destruction).

Still don't like it though.

SisterMoonshine · 25/03/2017 11:22

It's a lot to live up to, like Zeus or something.
(Oh crikey, don't go putting Zeus on your list now too).

snowgirl1 · 25/03/2017 11:22

It's a no from me. How about Miles?

PacificDogwod · 25/03/2017 11:23

Portico, Kai is rather a commonplace name in German speaking/scandinavian countries. I know a Kai who must now be in his late 50s/early 60s.
I wanted a Kai but was vetoed by DH Grin

Reow · 25/03/2017 11:23

Oh god. It's awful.

PacificDogwod · 25/03/2017 11:23

Oh, a baby Zeus!! Genius!! Grin

Personally, I would scan the DVLA personalised plates, and build a name around that.

GrumpyOldBag · 25/03/2017 11:27

A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play.

Just, no.

RayofFuckingSunshine · 25/03/2017 11:27

Mars/Marz? Just why?

Cheesecake53 · 25/03/2017 11:29

I really like it - both spellings.

Wishiwasmoiradingle2017 · 25/03/2017 11:31

People will want to eat him!!
