Help! Which of these girls names do you prefer?

Our baby girl is due in 3 weeks and we cannot agree a name. What do you think of these (her middle name will be Rhian):

Evanna
Ottilie
Darcey
Martha
Beatrix
Etta
Elin
Clara
Betsan

We're Welsh so there are a couple of Welsh names on our list - Thank you!

Martha and Clara
Farces has become way too popular. I sort of like Etta but it's a bit short and possibly harsh sounding.

I like:

• Martha
• Etta
• Clara

Don't like:

• Evanna
• Ottilie
• Darcey
• Betsan

Elin and Beatrix are both fine, just not to my personal taste.

Martha is my favourite.

Clara is far and away my favourite, followed by Etta and Elin.

I like Ottilie, actually, but I'd advise against it because it's (IMO) a bit of a current upper-middle-class fad which is very of the moment and will date. I love Beatrice but for some reason can't get with Beatrix. And I love Martha pronounced the English way but intensely dislike the pronunciation you'd get anywhere in Europe - these days I think how names travel is worth consideration. (I had to think more than most about this because we are a German/British couple and our names had to work in both. Led to a lot of lovely names being struck off the list).

Darcey will also be very, very dating, IMO - and there are so many pretty names around. How about Dulcie, for something similar-sounding but a lot more elegant?

Evanna is lovely, I've never heard it before. My favourite is Darcey, that's what I'd like if I ever had another girl x

I love Ottilie and Martha, but think the latter works better with Rhian.

I like Ottilie but DH isn't keen at all so I won't push him! We've ruled out Elin simply because it is quite popular in our area and we'd like something a bit different. I love Etta but not sure it works with Rhian also a couple of people have mentioned the Edith Piaf song which I'd never thought about!

Now it is a waiting game and we'll see what suits her when she arrives!
