This isn't for a baby, but for a curiosity.

For me:

Boy - Emrys

Girl - Bronwyn

For a boy I like Gryff(udd) and Macsen.
For a girl Mabli and Carys

Arianwen and Taliesin

Rockaby · 25/03/2017 08:39

sound

I just met a little Taliesen last week. I think it's lovely. I hadn't heard of it before.

I've always loved Llinos for a girl but would worry about pronunciation...even fellow Welshies sometimes mispronounce and to anyone not Welsh it invariably turns out 'Lin-oss'.

soundsystem · 25/03/2017 12:36

Rockaby Was the little Taliesin in Wales? I was keen on it for DS but we're in England and I just thought pronunciation issues would annoy me too much! (DD is Arianwen, and it's often met with extreme panic, despite being fairly straightforward (I think!) and us being in an area with lots of non-English names).

Rockaby · 25/03/2017 13:08

It was in West Wales sound. We aren't Welsh though and managed it ok.

MikeUniformMike · 25/03/2017 13:51

I know several women names Llinos and they complain that English people pronounce it Clean-Oss

Pencilvester · 26/03/2017 00:08

Bronwen for a girl and Wyn for a boy.

I know it's not Welsh, but I have met a lot of Welsh Sharons and love the name.

welshweasel · 26/03/2017 10:59

We have a Taliesin and live in England. It's been fine. He's usually Tal or Tali day to day though.

CactusFred · 26/03/2017 11:10

Emrys - we have this as ds middle name

Susan

CactusFred · 26/03/2017 11:10
  • Siwan not Susan
Usanayme · 26/03/2017 19:27

Pencilvester that's why I'd never choose a Welsh name, I'm useless with pronouncing and spelling them. Now I know, I actually prefer Bronwen to Bronwyn

Usanayme · 26/03/2017 19:28

Oh sorry, not coming up as OP anymore because I changed names to be more identifiable
