Baby girl is 5 days old... We still have a list of 8 names! :(

Help! Our current list is:
-Autumn (but will probably get rid of this as she wasn't born in Autumn)
-Gabriella (not sure on the NNs)
-Grace (not sure why I'm not 100% on this)
-Ivy (reminds me of IV?)
-Matilda (same as Gabriella)
-Olivia (so popular)
-Scarlet (not keen on the Scarlett spelling and I know people will always spell it like that, but then we have that with our son's name, so not the end of the world, but her surname will begin with an S, so I'm put off as I'm not keen on alliteration!)
-Violet (would actually probably go for this but our son is Elliot and they feel way too similar?)

I like Gabriella or Gabrielle

Gabriella stands out from your list for me. Do you not like Gaby for a diminutive?

I like ivy as its different. There are so many gives named Violet and Grace at my childrens school!

Have you tried out the names to see which feels most right? A friend of mine did that - a name a day and one really stood out them.

Gabrielle is okay, but for some reason I just prefer Gabriella massively. Gabby/Gabbie is okay, but I'd love to just call her Gabriella but I know I won't keep it up!

Oh gosh all nice names but I get the feeling you're not keen enough on any of them.. what do you call her at the moment ? Does she look like any of the names?

I was going to write - I like Gabriella. I'd probably abbreviate to Ella.

But having seen your son is Elliott I'd definitely avoid it.

Matilda. It's lovely and classic. Has the option of Tilly or Tilda as nn

Do you mean you would want to use a nn, or that you think other people will and don't like the nns for those names?

My DC has a name which could have a nn or two, but we just use the full name and everyone else does too. When they are older they can choose to use a nn if they wish.

From your list Grace and Matilda are my favorites but they are all lovely

I have a friend with a Gabriella - they shorted to Brie which is quite sweet on a 4 year old.

Grace. You've got the "ell" thing in Elliott and Gabriella. Elliott and Matilda - a lot of 'sounds'. Elliott and Grace, trips off the tongue.

What about Evie? Elliott and Evie? Elliott and Martha?

Grace and Matilda, although Grace is obviously very popular so not sure if that puts you off.

What are you thinking with Matilda NN wise? I think you can get away without having one.

I don't think people would shorten a name when the parents use the full name. Especially in the case of Matilda, it's not as obvious as using Rob for Robert for example. It's never happened to us and I'd quickly correct anyone who tried.

I'd vote for Autumn - I have one and she wasn't born in Autumn either! And surprisingly few people ask me that!

I also love Gabriella as a full name, but am not keen on Gabby. It's a bit too close to "gobby" for me.

Matilda is nice - possibly as Tilly, Tilda or Matty.

Ivy - love it.

Scarlet - I've never been too keen on the "scar" sound in it. Much like the "sic" in Jessica.

Grace & Olivia would be no-no's for me.

Violet - love it, but I wouldn't use it with Elliot.

I like Grace and Elliot together. And Grace doesn't really have any nn's.

Scarlet or Violet, both fine with Elliot. Grace is also nice, I have a cat called Gracie :)

(I love Autumn, but can see your point about having a March baby called Autumn)
