Thank you for the licence to speak freely! Otherwise I wouldnt say the following...

Carina - better with a K. Quite nice.
Susanna/h - a bit frilly.
Arielle - I also hear Sebastien the lobster/crab.
Ariella - flouncy. Would hate to be called this. Think it is the ranch owning spider in Tree Fu Tom.
Millicent - granny unchic. Millie is OK.
Helena - dull but OK.
Eliana - never heard of this. Another OK.
Amynta - awful. Sounds like a made up take on the horrible Araminta. Also "Amn't a.."
Serena - dull.
Louisa - doubly dull
Annabella - fussy. Hate it. Over popular for some reason.
Annabelle - see above.
Erika - love this.
Antonia - horsey and dull.

Shockers · 12/03/2017 00:19

I only really like Erika from your list.

But then again, it's always been one of my favourite girls' names.

saltyshoes · 12/03/2017 00:23

Carina - meh
Susanna/h - like it
Arielle - awful
Ariella - even more awful
Millicent - love it
Helena - like it
Eliana - meh
Amynta - no, sounds like my Italian gran offering a mint. Just no.
Serena - meh
Louisa - like it
Annabella - too common, too wet
Annabelle - see above
Erika - too harsh
Antonia - no

reuset · 12/03/2017 01:08

I'm going to commit cardinal sin and not read the thread first.

Carina - I know nothing about cars but a car connection sounds familiar, and I don't mean the 'car' part
Susanna/h - fine name but uninspiring somehow
Arielle - frilly
Ariella - frillier
Millicent - fine name, strong somehow, but also spinster Miss Millicent from Cazalet Chronicles
Helena - good solid classic, can't go wrong
Eliana - sounds modern and made up even though I know it isn't. Plus anything 'ana' ending is very on trend, if that's a concern
Amynta - Aminta or Amynta (I suspect the former) was character from To the Lighthouse, or other Woolf book (too lazy to look up). A good name, far superior to the similar ghastly parody name, Araminta
Serena - Why does that make me think of Disney
Louisa - nice
Annabella - prefer Annabel
Annabelle - prefer Annabel
Erika - ok, not really my taste
Antonia - just ok

keeplooking · 12/03/2017 01:19

Change the spelling to Luisa, and call her Lulu - perfect!

I'm afraid I don't like any of the others.

reuset · 12/03/2017 01:19

Helen sounds so short and as if somebody had been strangled whilst trying to say Helena

Grin

A famous Helena (many legends about her) is the mother of Constantine, Empress Helena

Notso · 12/03/2017 01:27

Helen sounds so short and as if somebody had been strangled whilst trying to say Helena. Anna is too short, Louise is boring and Susan is ok...
To me the 'a' sound on the end makes it sound like someone is saying Helen/Louise/Susan but angrily. When my teen is stroppy she adds an ah sound to everything, Muuum-ah Grin
Annabella sounds like two people. Anna - fine, Bella - fine, Annabella sounds like you couldn't make your mind up.

KoalaDownUnder · 12/03/2017 01:57

I loathe Erika/Erica. So harsh and frumpy.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 12/03/2017 02:10

Love serena and Louisa.

TheUnicorns · 12/03/2017 03:03

Ariella - sounds like areola sorry Blush
Millicent - old lady name
Eliana - Ellia is prettier IMO.
Amynta - never heard that before, doesn't sound very pleasing to the ears.
Annabelle - quite nice, best of the bunch.

No thoughts on the others.

sycamore54321 · 12/03/2017 04:03

Are these all the favourite names of a single person? It is such a wildly varying list - from fussy and frilly, like the -ella names, to prissy and buttoned up (Millicent, Erica) via dated and not in a good way (Susanah) and makey-uppy (most of the A) names. Usually you only see one or two 'styles' when people put lists on here.

My favourite of your list is probably Helena (hel-EEE-na) but if we can offer variants, I prefer Helen.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 09:49

Really? I also have an Italian nonna, never thought of that ;) Then again, that part of the family (actually, all parts of the family except for those born in the 60ies and 70ies) has weird names. I have a great-great-auntie called Aquilina...

reuset I like boring facts about namesakes... ;) Seriously, the meaning of a name sake can make all the differnce. Happened with DD1. I really liked Miranda nn Mira/Meera. DH says that sounds like Myra (yeah... no.) so that was scratched off the list.

Are these all the favourite names of a single person?

Yup. That's my list! I guess I'm just a very versatile person (that's the nice version). But more accurate is probably that I'm a bit of an indecisive cow that currently likes everything.

DH just proposed Daphne. I now also like Daphne. There's no rhyme or reason, I think Blush

Btw, the people saying they prefer Erica? You did convince me. Plus, it's like the flowers this way. Which is rather nice, isn't it?

Carina doesn't make me think of a car at all. I think it's lovely, but then I'm an Italian speaker. However, you're likely to get misspellings with Corinne, Corinna, etc.
I like all the names on your list, except for Arielle, Ariella and I think Annabella is a bit cumbersome. Millicent could grow on me.
I prefer Erica with a C, though.

MargeryFenworthy · 12/03/2017 10:08

Annabelle is my favourite Smile

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/03/2017 10:19

How about Marielle, a beautiful name..
Delphine, if you like Daphne.
Jaquelina.

NormaSmuff · 12/03/2017 10:23

Carina - yes - seems strange in a baby but baby's grow
Susanna/h -yes - again seems strange
Arielle - or persil?
Ariella - bit Out there
Millicent - nice
Helena - yep
Eliana - unusual
Amynta - too unusual
Serena - too prissy
Louisa - Yes, I do like this
Annabella - like it
Annabelle - yes
Erika - hmm, think so
Antonia - yes i do like this

autumngold6 · 12/03/2017 10:29

I like Susannah, Helena and Louisa.

BinkyBuntyFintyCunty · 12/03/2017 10:34

Helena is the prettiest name on your list and not often used.

NormaSmuff · 12/03/2017 10:41

I think Millicent would be great with Clarissa and I do like Millicent.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 10:41

Ariella has been taken out of the list (I know think of private parts whenever I look at it), Arielle has been put on the middle name list (love the name, but the washing powder...) and Erika has been changed to Erica.

Yup ;)

sugar

Huh. Delphine does sound like the animal, but it is surprisingly charming.
Marielle? There is already a Maria and a Marielle in our family...
Jaqueline sounds to me personally like a bad version of Jaqueline. And I'm expecting to see a child with earrings or maybe a woman with straightened hair and a weirdly dyed hair. And a small yappy dog. Sorry!! Blush If I ever met a Jaquelina I'd certainly change my mind.

Oh gosh, living in England and my DMIL have started to make me think of the weirdest things Blush

NormaSmuff · 12/03/2017 10:42

is Delphine considered? that is lovely.
As is Daphne

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 10:42

Daphne is being seriosuly considered, yes :)

Delphine... Maybe more of a middle name candidate.

OP posts:
NormaSmuff · 12/03/2017 10:44

I vote for Daphne.
under used and lovely

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/03/2017 10:52

Chippie, 😊, it was the name Aquilina, that made me put forward Jaquelina, oops !
Save by Delphine 😂😂😂
