Solomon

What do you think of this? I originally thought it might be a bit too religious sounding for us (we're not), but names like Noah and Reuben are quite popular now. I quite like Sol as a nn.

Love it!!

TheMasterNotMargarita · 11/03/2017 20:29

Love it.

Rockaby · 11/03/2017 20:30

I really like it and pitched it to DH for DC1 (who turned out to be a girl).

NuffSaidSam · 11/03/2017 20:31

It's too biblical for me even though I like Noah and Reuben.

BikeRunSki · 11/03/2017 20:33

Love it.

DS has 3 Biblical names, although we are not at all religious. Old Testament names are awesome - the plethora of Isaacs, Noahs, Rubens and Zachs out there is testament to that (no pun intended). I also know a Seth, a Saul and a couple of Amoses.

Mumzypopz · 11/03/2017 20:34

A little bit too ponsey for me.

welshgirlwannabe · 11/03/2017 20:36

I have one Smile he is universally called sol. Everyone always tells me they love his name. He went through a period of wanting to be called bob as there aren't many other Solomons around but I stand by my decision. It's a great name

welshgirlwannabe · 11/03/2017 20:37

Also not religious.

reuset · 11/03/2017 20:38

Fits in well with the vogue for less popular biblical names. Though I always think 'solemn' and don't like 'solly' shortening.

Mumzypopz · 11/03/2017 20:38

Sure there is a Solomon in the Bible?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/03/2017 20:45

Love it, and Sol is really cool
Also like Sullivan.

EmmaC78 · 11/03/2017 20:46

My friend's DS is a Solomon and at first I was unsure but now really like it.

Allthebestnamesareused · 11/03/2017 20:47

We know a 15 year old Sol and of course the footballer Sol Campbell is also a Sol.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 11/03/2017 20:56

Very religious. But why not...? It's actually rather nice. I would have never thought of it... But yes, I can see it. It's lovely!

BikeRunSki · 11/03/2017 20:59

Yes, there is definitely a Solomon in the Bible.

I love it.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 11/03/2017 21:02

Bike of course there is...?
Confused

OneSecondAfter · 11/03/2017 21:04

Like it a lot and love Sol as a nickname.

BikeRunSki · 11/03/2017 21:27

A post a few up was questioning it chippie. Unless I was being thick, which is likely.

Ilovewillow · 11/03/2017 21:37

Fab! My son has a biblical name too and we are not particularly religious. It's a great name.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 11/03/2017 21:39

I prefer Sol or Saul but do like Solomon though it does seem more religious to me for some reason than the likes of Noah, Reuben or Adam.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 11/03/2017 23:38

Oops, true.

And here I was thinking of my evolution hating and scary teacher droning on andon... And praying for the people in this wolrd making the important decisions ensuring our wellbeing and safety etc. Yup, small flashback. Probably why I personally couldn't stand giving a child of mine an obviously religious name... (Oops. I'm rambling)

Jooni · 12/03/2017 07:08

It's nice, but Sol is great!
