On my third iteration of potentials now for dc2, will find out the sex when they arrive. I am NOT GOOD at settling on names!
What do you think of Cameron? Is it becoming super common? What nicknames would they get apart from Cam/Cammy?

Sophronia · 11/03/2017 20:26

Makes me think of David Cameron, unfortunately.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/03/2017 20:29

Yes, why not. Cameron (Cam).
Cammy sounds feminine.

Mumzypopz · 11/03/2017 20:29

I know a couple of Cameron's, but don't think it's a massively common name. I like it. Think they would get Cam, Cammy sounds a bit girly and like Tammy.

NuffSaidSam · 11/03/2017 20:30

I love it.

I think the obvious nickname would be Cam.

Could be Ron i suppose?

HollywoodStunt · 11/03/2017 20:31

I know a Cameron and liked it until David Cameron came along

Rockaby · 11/03/2017 20:31

I'm not mad on it, but it's perfectly nice.

CheesyChristie · 11/03/2017 20:32

I think it's quite a nice name. But I imagine people will think you're a Tory.

Justmuddlingalong · 11/03/2017 20:35

I have one. Not sure how common it is now, mine is in his 20s. No one has ever mentioned the Tories or David Cameron. It's a lovely name, IMHO.

badg3r · 11/03/2017 20:44

I'd not even thought of the David Cameron association... May is out for a girl then too Wink

My little brother (aged 15) is a Cameron. He doesn't get it shortened. It's quite a common name in Scotland for his age group - think it was most popular name in 2001, or something.

thisismadness77 · 11/03/2017 20:47

I like it. The only Cameron I knows gets Cam occasionally which is nice.

KatieScarlett · 11/03/2017 20:48

In Scotland it is a very very common name. I know 5 Camerons.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 11/03/2017 20:58

Lovely :) Makes me think of my great-granduncle Carmine. Smart, generous, brave and also very cunning man.

It's a rather fabulous name!

crapfatbanana · 11/03/2017 21:02

I do really like it and we had it on our list (it would have honoured a family member) until David Cameron came on the scene and it really spoilt it for us.

If you don't mind that association then use it.

flumpybear · 11/03/2017 21:03

Love it!! I have a Cameron too so I'm biased lol

badg3r · 11/03/2017 21:04

Yes it is the Scottish connection that I like, we are unfortunately unlikely to live there though so common in Scotland not a problem. I think there were two in my school year (a while ago now!) so I guess it has become more popular since I left.

Cameron / Cam is lovely. (usable again thanks to Theresa)

triskele · 11/03/2017 21:15

It makes me think of Dave too.
But I do like the name!

ToastVacuum · 11/03/2017 21:20

I think of David Cameron too (which puts me off). But as the years go by this won't occur to people as much.

BaymaxismyHero · 11/03/2017 23:34

Really like it. David Cameron doesn't spring to mind.
