Violet or Summer?

which do u prefer? i think Violet is too popular now but not sure. what are your thoughts?

Tricky one! Violet is nicer than Summer I think, but I think Violet is more popular. Don't know though.

I'd just go with your favourite tbh. I don't think either of them are super popular like Isobel / Amelia etc. Not yet at least - who knows what will happen in the next few years? Theoretically, either one could suddenly soar in popularity!

I know a Summer but never met or heard of the name violet. I personally think violet is incredibly pretty and just sounds so much nicer than summer

I like both though can't ever shake feeling Summer is a bit of an American cheerleader type of name. Violet is more graceful yet beautiful.

Scatty i think i agree although i do like it. Im not sure ! If violet wasnt so popular i would be 100% Sure about it.

The Vi sound is a bit harsh and grating but then Summer to me was always a season not a name but it's whatever you like and want, not anyone else

If you aren't 100% sure about either of them, do you have any other options?

Scarlett is nice and has a similar vibe maybe. Or how about Amber or Willow?

Ah well, choosing between two is possibly easier, so at least you know what you like .

I'm not sure why you are concerned about the popularity of Violet. It was 68th most popular name in E&W in 2015, Summer was 66th(!). Admittedly Summer moved down and Violet moved up but there's essentially around the same number born each year.

For what it's worth Violet is my favourite (it's my dd's middle name).
