What do you think?

Delilah was my absolute favourite until I researched the meaning but even now I think I still love it. I like Lilah as a shortening and I haven't ever met another.

Sounds fine to me, it's not quite Jezebel, if that's what you mean by 'meaning'.

Somebody will mention the irritation of the Tom Jones song, just wait Grin There's also a Queen song 'Delilah' about a cat

Paperdove87 · 02/03/2017 23:06

I love Delilah! And I think they sound lovely together! Smile

Carlalala101 · 02/03/2017 23:09

I think of the hey there delilah song rather than Tom Jones thankfully but know many won't.

For a boy I like Casper but DH isn't keen. He'd be more likely to agree to Jasper but though I like it, it reminds me of a dog in a children's book!

I like it.

My Delilah is 6 now and we still love her name Smile

Aww we very nearly named DD Delilah. The plain white Tees song was playing on the radio just before she was born. Changed our mind at the last minute and went for our original boring name choice

SuperBeagle · 03/03/2017 05:48

I really don't like Delilah. The Biblical association is grim; the Tom Jones song is grim; and the Hey There Delilah song was overplayed to the point that it made me want to go Van Gogh and cut my ears off.

Lilah Joy / Lila Joy is much nicer.

Prostitute/Stripper/Webcam girl

I feel the same way as superbeagle about that dreadful. big white tees song. Shudder.

I do, however, love the name Delilah and Lilah as a shortening. Very sweet (so long as you don't think about the biblical connection, but is that what most people think about these days when they hear a biblical name)?

On a similar vein, how about Dilara? I know one who is awesome.

ToastVacuum · 03/03/2017 12:51

Delilah Joy would be a great name! Lilah is nice for a nickname, as is Della IMO.

Delilah in the Bible is obviously one of the better-known Delilahs, but the name doesn't stop with her IYSWIM.

Other names which sound similar-ish to me... Dahlia, Deborah, Cordelia, Diana, Leila/Layla, Gabriella, Lucia, Delia, Amaya, Isla, Sophia, Cecilia, Adelina, Violet, Delphinia.

I like it!

EggsEleven · 03/03/2017 17:29
