If you had a long awaited baby girl, against all the odds, what would you call her?

Hypothetical day dreaming thread as currently awaiting some potentially nasty test results for baby so looking for a welcome distraction to help keep calm/positive and think about other things.

We don't know the sex yet, but if a girl what could you call her that would be a special, but non tacky, name? Something that has a special meaning or other? It's been a very long road to get to this point and she would be our only child.

Am thinking Hallelujah is a bit much...? Grin (Although you could shorten it to Lu/Lou or Halle for everyday?!) We really like this but it has not been well received by others. Sad

Hope was another thought I had, but wondered is it a bit plain? Would it cause too much confusion in conversation every time someone used the word hope? I generally like traditional names e.g. Beatrice, Amelia, Harriet and etc

Not a fan of Joy or Faith either (sorry, hope not to offend anyone)

MEANING: Ancient Irish name from the noun aine that means “splendor, radiance, brilliance.” Aine is connected with fruitfulness and prosperity. The queen of the Munster fairies was called Aine as was one of the wives of Fionn Mac Cool

Aww that's fantastic op, been waiting for the good news xx

ClaryIsTheBest · 08/03/2017 12:51

That's awesome!! Beatrix/ce is imo lovely. And the meaning is beautiful.

I put Donata on my name list yesterday evening. But I don't think that's the same style of the names you seem to like (although the meaning would fit).

If we have a (second) girl her middle name will be Mirabelle (marvelous) or Lettice (happiness/happy).

Good luck with the pregnancy!

MommaGee · 08/03/2017 12:53

Claryls please pick Mirabelle. No matter the meaning people will assume she's named after a naff veg

needtobeanonforabit · 09/03/2017 17:06

Thanks everyone Blush and yes we have decided on Beatrice Clary Not sure whether as a first or middle name yet but it will be in there xx

We have Amy, I always liked the name and it has a family connection too but as she is our rainbow child the meaning was especially fitting.

DropZoneOne · 09/03/2017 17:12
