Any thoughts on Toby?
My bump has been billy all the way through and I quite like William as a name but my husband randomly came our with Toby recently and I quite like it. ... surname is Green

I like it although I wouldn't use it myself (or I would but would use Tobias and call him Toby)

To me it is very much a reminder of The L Shaped Room (how I loved that book at age 16).

SuperBeagle · 28/02/2017 01:56

I like it. Smile

I prefer Billy, but I think Toby Green is a nicer combination than Billy Green. Smile

AreWeThereYet000 · 28/02/2017 02:45

Love it! But then I am biased I have a 3yr old Toby x

FreeNiki · 28/02/2017 03:01

I love it.

I would give him the full name of Tobias as I think it is a really cool name Toby as his nn.

Rockaby · 28/02/2017 07:28

Nice! Smile

Sistafromanuthamista · 28/02/2017 08:29

I prefer Toby over Billy.

passingthrough1 · 28/02/2017 09:28

I love it and it's on the shortlist for DC2 that I'm not even trying for yet!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/02/2017 09:58

Prefer Billy, Bill when adult, rather than Toby.

reuset · 28/02/2017 10:11

I think it's fine alone. I do prefer Tobias, but they seem to be more often shortened to 'Bias' as somebody else pointed out on a recent thread.

ToastVacuum · 28/02/2017 12:36

Not keen on Toby. I prefer William, nickname Will or Bill.

NameChange30 · 28/02/2017 12:39

Love it. It was on my shortlist and a very close second (only because the name we've chosen works better in DH's language).

Dontstepinthecowpat · 28/02/2017 18:10

I have a Toby William, I realise I'm biased but I love it and don't know any others.

Summerisdone · 28/02/2017 18:37

I have a 2 yr old Toby, it wasn't my first choice but it was the first one his father and I both liked as we couldn't agree upon any others. I definitely don't regret it as he really suits his name, my one regret though is being persuaded by his dad to call him just Toby, I really do wish I'd stuck to my guns and at least put Tobias on his birth certificate.

Also I think the name works really well with the Green as surname

Sophronia · 28/02/2017 23:05

I much prefer Billy/William. Toby is a bit wet.

Gummibears · 01/03/2017 08:29

I prefer William

akorda · 05/03/2017 20:08

Toby is nice enough but seems to be "trending" among baby boys where I live so may become v popular? William is a more classic name and actually I've met a few little Williams but very few Billys. I would go with that. Billy Green sounds v nice!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/03/2017 20:30

Toby is great.

I like William with Will, dislike Billy.

catsarenice · 07/03/2017 20:32

Love Toby - DS was very nearly called it.

Maladicta · 07/03/2017 20:34

I've a 9yo Toby, he's the only one in his year

gladisgood · 07/03/2017 20:50

Tobias was on my "list" if DD had been a boy.

I love it.

William is OK, with NN Will, but it isn't a favourite of mine. Loathe Billy ( sorry to all the Billies out there) it is really twee and also reminds me of goats Grin

GuinessPunch · 07/03/2017 20:51

A no no from me due to kunta kinte

thebakerwithboobs · 07/03/2017 21:00

We have a Toby short for Toban. Lovely name-never met a horrible Toby....and I'm a teacher!

ClaryIsTheBest · 07/03/2017 21:36

I prefer Tobias. But Toby is cute.

I also like Tony/Anthony. :)

William is also really nice.
