Middle name help

mum2be2boys · 26/02/2017 00:26

We have chosen the name Adam for our baby boy, which we both love, but we are struggling to decide on a middle name.

It will either be James or David. Both names honour family members, one from my family and one from husband's (which is why we are struggling to decide!)

Which sounds best, Adam James or Adam David?!

Thank you in advance!

Adam David

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/02/2017 09:29

Adam David.

EggsEleven · 26/02/2017 09:35

Could you use both?

SoulAccount · 26/02/2017 09:35

Adam James

IWantATardis · 26/02/2017 09:36

They both sound good. I'd be struggling to choose too (sorry).

WellyMummy · 26/02/2017 09:48

It really depends on your surname as to which flows better.

Mcnorton · 26/02/2017 09:50

Could just not have one? My dad and his brother don't have one because my grandad decided he would save them extra effort on form-filling in later life. Grin

Thank you for your help so far!

We will definitely be having one middle name as myself, husband and eldest all have one middle name so don't want him to be only one with either none or two.

I'm wondering if we should use something completely different, but don't know what!

Surname is 2 syllables and begins with T.

Does the eldest have a middle name honouring a family member?

Ordinarily · 26/02/2017 10:36

David.

James is a very popular middle name, so David would be more unusual.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/02/2017 11:56

Adam Jon.

workshyfop · 26/02/2017 12:04

Adam is a lovely name. Maybe use something different as a mn so you're not favouring one side of the family. Suggestions:

Edward
Matthew
George
Benjamin
Oscar
Sebastian
Arthur

MiaMoo95 · 26/02/2017 12:05

My son is Adam, I think David goes best

workshyfop · 26/02/2017 12:05

Or Daniel

CPtart · 26/02/2017 12:29

I have an Adam James. I still love it years later. A one syllable middle name flows batter with a two syllable surname but that's a minor issue.

Sistafromanuthamista · 26/02/2017 14:32

I would choose David purely on the basis that pretty much every boy that I know of who has been born in the past few years has James as a middle name. I like the name James but it is very much a filler middle name these days

NameChange30 · 26/02/2017 14:35

Did you take your husband's name when you married?
Assuming that you're giving the child your husband's surname, he already has your husband's family name.
So he should get a middle name from your side of the family.
Middle names are less important than surnames so it's still not completely fair but it's better than nothing.
