Due DC2 in June, we don't know what we are having so looking for both boys and girls names. DD1 has a classic but not over used name, so looking for something similar. DH and I find it hard to agree on names, he likes what I would call 'boring' names, and although i don't like 'out there' names I don't want my DC to be one of many in their class iyswim.

So, the names we like so far:
GIRL:
Robyn
Erin
Mirren/Murren (Scottish, I love them but DH doesn't)
Malin (Scandinavian - DH loves it but I don't!)
Alice
Lucy
Georgie

BOYS:
Callum
Euan
Innes
Struan
Sam
Ben
Logan

Some of these we both like, some would take a lot of persuasion.

If there is anything along these line you can suggest please throw them at me, or comment on the names above.

We are in Scotland if that makes a difference

The only names I like from your lists are Robyn & Ben.

EightiethElement · 18/02/2017 10:05

I like that scandinavian / celtic crossover. I like Struan and Mirren

What about Gregor, Donald, Raul, or Siún, Greta or Anya

SleepForTheWeak · 18/02/2017 11:34

DD's name has been mentioned so definitely on the right lines!!

I love Gregor, possibly my fave boys name but it's a definite no from DH Sad

I like Innes, Struan, Euan and Logan from your boys. Innes the most and it's a bit more unusual,
How about Lyle, Muir, Reid (bit biased on Reid, it's a fab name!)
I like Alice best from your girls.

Sophronia · 18/02/2017 22:21

How about...

HeteronormativeHaybales · 18/02/2017 22:25

Louisa (love it) and Struan are my favourites from your list. Was going to suggest Ines for a girl. Linnea as per a PP is pretty and has that Scandi vibe. And yes yes to Rowan, for either sex.

EggsEleven · 18/02/2017 22:35

I love the name Mirren. Also like Meredith and Merryn.

Flynn for a boy?

BikeRunSki · 18/02/2017 22:46

Louisa and Innes are two of my favourite names.

badg3r · 19/02/2017 01:37

What about Asta, Astrid, Isla, Ian (Yann probably in scandi countries), Finian? Malin in French means malignant so I'm not keen!

NuffSaidSam · 19/02/2017 02:16

From your girls list I love Robyn, Alice and Georgie. Quite like Malin. Not keen on Mirren.

Suggestions:

Rowan
Margot
Marnie
Matilda
Carmen
Daisy
Lark

From you boys list I like Ben, Sam and Callum.

Suggestions:

Ivo (Love this! We would have used it, but it sounds best in a Scottish accent and we don't have a Scottish accent!)
Louis
Marcus
Cameron
Dominic
Sebastian
Thomas

SleepForTheWeak · 19/02/2017 08:12

Thanks everyone, some great suggestions so going to write a list and present them to DH.

We don't have Scandinavian routes, I have no idea where Malin came from as DH likes very 'normal' names usually! He travels to Scandinavia with work occasionally so maybe he's cane across it then.

It's very difficult to find a name that isn't unusual but isn't over used!!

In lreland Mirren is spelled Muireann pronounced the same. It is Irish for MaryAnne.

Johanna197610 · 19/02/2017 08:30

I love Clara, Lydia, Georgia, Verity, Polly, Lucy, Grace, Evie

I also love Mylo, Archie, Tobias, Elliott

MrPoppersPenguins · 19/02/2017 08:57

Your girls list is similar to ours. I love Mirren too (but DH doesn't!). Our shortlist was-

Niamh
Cora
Isla
Freya
Erin
Thea

SleepForTheWeak · 19/02/2017 11:55

We do like the name Isla, it's VERY popular here though.

Also quite like Iona.
