Today I am loving Lawrence for baby no 2! What do you think? Potentially Lawrie / Loz for short. Middle names under consideration are Alexander, Edward or Jasper...

I love Lawrence and nn Lawrie for a boy.

My family would immediately shorten it to Larry though, which I hate.

Sophronia · 16/02/2017 11:40

I prefer the Laurence spelling, but Lawrence / Lawrie is very nice. I like Lawrence Edward.

Ordinarily · 16/02/2017 11:53

They're all nice names! I agree that Lawrence Edward sounds good.

WingMirrorSpider · 16/02/2017 11:56

I really like it. I do prefer the Laurence spelling like a pp, but either way I think it's an underused classic which works for an adult as well as for little boys.

Lovely name and shortening. Prefer Laurence spelling.
Wish I'd thought of it for no. 2 Sad

It somehow seems more masculine with a w to me, not sure why!

I think Larry could be quite cute too as a nickname xx

I have a 'Laurence'. Grin
I don't like the spelling with a 'w'. It looks like it should be pronounced 'Law' 'Rence' rather than 'Laurence'.
His is known as 'Laurie' at school. I like it with Alexander.

2014newme · 16/02/2017 12:05

I like it but prefer Laurie for shortened version not lawrie

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 16/02/2017 12:10

Good point odinsLove. Do you get asked about spelling a lot? My surname is quite complex so I need to avoid hard to spell/ pronounce names

Marlboroandmalbec34. No I don't get asked about the spelling but if someone I don't know well asks about his name I do tend to say 'Laurence with a U' just because I know it can spelled differently. Once they've been told it has a U they don't usually forget but that maybe because I am scary...well I am today as I have some disgusting cold. Grin

KlingybunFistelvase · 16/02/2017 15:12

Lawrence is lovely and I love Lawrie / Laurie as a shortening. Loz is horrid to me though (sorry)!

Jooni · 16/02/2017 15:18

Lawrence is handsome. Lawrie/Laurie or Law as a shortening are nice. Not Loz!

NerrSnerr · 16/02/2017 15:29

I have a friend called Lawrence. He has changed his name by deed pole to his middle name (which is incidentally one of your chosen middle names). He hates Lawrence and used to be very angry at his parents for not giving him a 'normal' name. To piss him off we call him Larry....

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/02/2017 18:08

I know a super cool Lawrence, nick named Ren.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/02/2017 20:26

I love it but am another who prefers the Laurence / Laurie spellings.
