I need some positivity to help with my ivf nerves, so dreaming about female baby names. We love names like Maia, Thea, Mya, Ellissa, Autumn, Violet, Juliet but we're undecided. Nothing too out there or difficult to spell/pronounce. Would love some new suggestions to daydream about!

Any feelings about Elora? Or would she get tired of the 'Willow' film reference? That's the kind of dreamy name anyhow...

Luna is so lovely!! Or maybe Serena? That's such a serena and dreamy but also powerful name imo :)!

Daphne, Minerva, Eliane, Laila, Millicent, Aina, Rose, Fleur, Leontine, Appolline, Cleodie, Iona, Odette... I'm not sure why these are dreamy imo. But I actually really think theyare. oops? ;)

Travelbug91 · 08/03/2017 22:29

Lovely suggestions, thank you. Serena would be a top choice but someone close to me already has it so it's off-limits. My hubby associates Luna with Tuna so it's out too Sad

You've been complimenting my own name Blush

I just really like it. Which is probably a bad thing to say.
But I'm complimenting my mother's taste. Not myself. So it's hopefully not too conceited... Blush

Thanks :) I was a bit meh about it as a kid.

And nowadays, as I said, not trying to sound conceited, but I just genuinely think it's dreamy/lovely. How weird is it that I think it's somehow indecent to love my own name? (I'd never admit to that in real life, tbh!) So, I'm just happy my mother picked it...

I guess I'd like for my children to like their names as well. Maybe why I'm such a picky/hard to please person where their names are concerned.

Lila or Lena as an alternative to Luna?

WyfOfBathe · 09/03/2017 20:10

I hadn't heard of Willow until I googled just now, so I wouldn't have made the connection with the film.

Other names:
Lila
Eleonora
Nina - means dreamer/dream
Beatrice
Hermia
Paulina
(last three all Shakespeare names like Juliet)

If you like travel but not place names, what about a name from a country you like (as a first or middle name), e.g. for France you could have Marie, Camille or Pauline, for Spain Alba, Maria, Sofia.

Uiscebeatha85 · 09/03/2017 20:12

How do you pronounce Leontine? My name contains the first 4 letters so I'm pronouncing it as lee-own-teen. Or is it Le-on-tine (as in wine)? It is a lovely name Smile

ClaryIsTheBest · 09/03/2017 20:17

Depends. In the UK it's pretty much like Clementine... I mean, the end ;) Usually either Ley-on-tine or Lee-on-tine.

But my parents pronounce it Le (a bit like the e of egg but more open and airy. Like the é in French)-on-teen.

Thanks. You guys are making me blush Blush I'll tell my mother the compliments :)
