Hi all,
I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and doing it alone without a partner. I've a nice few names to choose from for a girl (Isla, Ava, Eva) but am really struggling with boys names. I generally like quite earthy, ethereal and Celtic type names but don't want anything too 'far out there' as I think it'll possibly result in teasing at school! Here's the few I've got so far - I'd love to have opinions on these and I'm open to new suggestions.....
Flynn
Finley
Will
Theo
Oliver
Joshua
Jacob
Thanks for you help :)

Love Flynn. Also love Theo.

What about Harley, Lewis, Harris, Harry....

Sistafromanuthamista · 14/02/2017 16:54

Ethan
Caleb
Fletcher

(Flynn is wonderful though)

LemonBreeland · 14/02/2017 16:54

I also love Flynn and Theo. Oliver is too popular, Will has the prince connection and not keen on Jacob or Joshua.

thethoughtfox · 14/02/2017 16:55

Finley and Theo are beautiful. Oliver has become common. It's become the everyman's choice of name to sound posh. Joshua and Jacob will be shortened. Are you ok with that?

Booklover123 · 14/02/2017 17:24

Flynn is great!
Also Rowan?
Julius?
Edward?
Best of luck!

Thanks for replying so quickly!
Forgot to say that I've always worked with children so unfortunately it makes picking names harder as there's sometimes a 'not so positive' link with a past child!! I prefer names not to be shortened but if I liked both versions I'd be happy. To be honest Flynn is the one I like the most at the moment but, unlike the girls names, none of my choice of boys names are jumping out at me as 'amazing'!
Rowan, Edward and Caleb are nice.
Seems a Scottish theme with Isla, Lewis and Harris!! Quite like Lewis though X

My favourite from your list is Theo. I also like Finley and Flynn. Other suggestions:
Ethan, Euan, Rowan, River, Jasper, Jude, Leo, Elliott, Everett, Emmett

Sapphireshadow · 14/02/2017 17:54

Lachlan, Logan.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/02/2017 17:54

I like Theo, from your list, and Isla.
Suggest Adam or Bram.

Juveniledelinquent · 14/02/2017 18:04

Flynn is lovely and not very common.

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2017 18:25

I really like Flynn.

bottlegreen · 14/02/2017 18:30

Lots of lovely names here. How about some Scottish place names? Struan, Arran, Farragon?

weebarra · 14/02/2017 18:30

Torin
Struan
Innes

beautyandthebump · 14/02/2017 18:53

Not particularly helpful I know, but just to say OP that I think all of the names you have in your list, boys and girls, are lovely. Great taste! Xx

SuperBeagle · 14/02/2017 20:19

Lovely names, OP. Smile

I love Flynn. This would've been DS1's name if it went with our surname. Envy

Silverdream · 14/02/2017 20:21

Theo is lovely. I really like it.

BingThing · 14/02/2017 20:29

I have a Flynn so I'm biased! I'm having Theo for dc3 if it's a boy. I also liked Asa, Elijah, Gray, Milo, Rafe and Elias this time - but we decided Theo goes better with our other children's names and is not very common where we live x

Chocolatecake12 · 14/02/2017 22:32

Isaac
Saul
Zachary
Dillon

Mclaren37 · 15/02/2017 05:35

Theo is the best. Ideally fully name Theodore. Finn is way too over used. Flynn is better.

Lilly16 · 15/02/2017 14:05

Like Theo, Finn and Jacob...have you considered Rafferty or Ruben?

EggsEleven · 15/02/2017 15:11

Love Flynn and Theo. Probably Flynn the most. Also like Rafferty as a PP suggested.

Montsti · 15/02/2017 16:06

I like Oliver, William & Jacob...interesting re: Oliver, my son (born in 2009) has 1 in a year of 60 boys & 7 Lukes, multiple Thomases, Joshuas, Finlays, James, Zacs...my advice, therefore is to go with the name that you like best as you never really know!

Really don't like Theo (depends where you live but I just hear people screaming, "Feo" which would irritate me) but do like Teddy so maybe Theodore or Edward nn. Teddy..

Not keen on Flynn and there are a few around. I prefer Finlay to Finley...
