Thinking of Brook for our son. Opinions?

I do like the name and the meaning, but I'd assume Brook(e) was a girl. People will get used to it though.

Brooke is such a well known girl name, that I'd automatically assume that a Brook was a female.

Brooks is a bit more masculine sounding?

I know a male Brook. Without the e is a boys name. Never been teased about it.

I think I prefer it for a boy, actually. I don't think he'd be teased.

I actually prefer it for a boy too.

My niece is a Brooke

I really hate the name tbh

Pipilangstrumpf · 07/02/2017 08:45

I know a male Brook. I like it and find it very masculine sounding. Easy to spell and say and not overused. Great choice!

Popskipiekin · 07/02/2017 08:45

I've got a male friend who goes by Brooke because it's part of his surname. Tbh I think it's a masculine sounding name however you spell it, though I know we are getting more and more used to boys names for girls. You like it then use it for your son. Your family and friends will grow to associate it as a boy's name.

Not that keen, sorry...Sad

JC23 · 07/02/2017 09:09

Never heard of it as a boys name before but I like it!

I would assume a Brook would be a girl. Have you considered Brock ?
