Can I have some help? I'm trying to think of names for our second and neither of us like each other's names. Can you suggest any along these lines that don't end in an 's' sound as it won't go with out surname

Here's my list (all rejected so far by DH)

Elena
Ailsa

You seem to like the Scottish names and old fashioned or Biblical names with lots of vowels, so here goes!
Girls alternatives:
Adeline (Addie for short--very traditional in my SIL's family in the American South)
Elinor / Eleanor / Eleanora
Beth
Isabel
Isla (popular, I know)
Helena
Nadia

Boys:
Ewan or Ewen
Owen
Kane (my brother's middle name as it's a family name) or Cain (obvi Biblical)
Lochlan
Brodie (was on my list but my DH says eeewww!)

So what does he think now OP, and yourself, anything you've seen, that you like ?

auberginefrog · 08/02/2017 13:13

Wow thanks! Haven't checked back for a few days and some of these suggestions are lovely! On maternity leave from Friday so will sit down at the weekend and make some choices....

Both his boy suggestions are Scottish and both can be surnames. You've got Finlay, Fraser, Murray and Murdo on your list, of which only Murdo isn't also a surname so I think Scottish and surnamey is the way to go for a boys name.

Duncan? Ewan? Innes? Scott? Campbell? Alexander? Douglas?

Puremince · 08/02/2017 17:32

Sorry, not Douglas or Innes, because they end with an "S"

Pogolphin · 08/02/2017 19:03

Alexandra
Duncan
Adaline
Hector

If you can't agree, each choose a name you like and use both - he can use his choice and you, yours. That's only fair.
