Cultural baby name drama!!! Help!!!!

I'm British and my husband is African, we have a toddler who is called Orson with an African middle name already. I'm expecting another boy in 3 weeks(ish) and we cannot agree on a baby name at all! We had the exact same problem with our toddler and in the end I basically chose his name which we both (now) love.
We've made baby name lists and literally all the names are being vetoed by each other, for example he likes "Feyi" "Iso" "Basso" but none of them make sense with the name Orson and I struggle to pronounce 😳....I've made so many suggestions, some of which I'm not even keen on in order to find a compromise but we're stuck 😬😬😬😬
This is my current list:
Wren
Drake
Ocean
Rui
Orion
Amory
Beau
Sol

Advise and name suggestions please!!! Looks like I'll be naming him on my own and my head is spinning!!!

Thanks in advance
😍

From your list I like Sol best.

How about Brice, Eli(jah) or Xanthe (Zan-thee/thay depending on preference)?

I think they all match up with Orsen without being same-y.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/02/2017 16:54

I also like Sol (Solomon).
But my favourite is, Orson and Basso, sounds cool ! 😀

MommaGee · 04/02/2017 17:03

Isn't Xanthe a girls name? It was on my girls list

Adore Elijah and Ezekiel

Chatelherault · 04/02/2017 17:04

Theo
Isaac
Elijah

JonSnowsWhore · 04/02/2017 17:04

If he doesn't like amory have you suggested omari? I know someone with a son of that name, & it's kind of similar so just throwing it in there Smile

MelinaMercury · 04/02/2017 17:15

MommaGee, I think it is traditionally but I think it's being used for either now. Or at least I know 1 male one haha

I personally think it's fine for either :)

MelinaMercury · 04/02/2017 17:17

Didn't mean to use so many "thinks" in that post...

Sapphireshadow · 04/02/2017 17:32

I agree that Wren is more of a girls name. Really Orion but think it sounds too similar to Orson. So my favourites from your list are Orson and Sol or Orson and Beau.

Chocolatecake12 · 04/02/2017 17:37

Orson and Isaac sound fab together.
Isaac means laughter and I once lived next door to an African guy called Isaac who had the biggest smile I've ever seen!

NarkyMcDinkyChops · 04/02/2017 17:40

Xanthe is definitely a girls name.

paddypants13 · 04/02/2017 17:43

I really like Sol. You could give him Solomon as a long name if you like it. I haven't heard it used as a girls name and it makes me think of Sol Campbell.

PaintingOwls · 04/02/2017 17:50

Just pick a name you like, no need to match it with DC1. Once they are adults they will have their own lives and it won't matter Confused

Delta22 · 04/02/2017 17:51

Hi

What about Holden, Landon, Nolan, Griffin or Silas?

Jooni · 04/02/2017 17:58

I think Sol is perfect.

LauraPalmersBodybag · 04/02/2017 18:08

I'm casting another vote for Asa. It was my favourite name had my dd been a boy.

It's not from Cameroon, but a little research shows it being used in Nigeria so there could be an overlap? It's similar to Issa...

Mainly though, I just think it's a beautiful and simple name.

KickAssAngel · 04/02/2017 18:17

If you picked DS1's name, can you let your DH have the main say on this one?

Bundao · 04/02/2017 18:26

I like Basso, it goes really well with Orson.

Sweets101 · 04/02/2017 18:36

I like Orson and Basso too, they sound great together. Unless my pronunciation is really off.

Serin · 04/02/2017 19:00

I like Sol and Basso.

AnnetteKertan · 04/02/2017 19:02

Wren is a girls name and Ocean is on the feminine side. I like Beau and Sol(mon).

Drake is a bit cheesy. It's like calling a daughter Beyoncé.

Would Cameron work? It's quite similar to Cameroon.

AnnetteKertan · 04/02/2017 19:03

Btw, Xanthe is a girls name (I have one)

GinIsIn · 04/02/2017 20:15

Wren is a girl's name, as is Xanthe, and I don't think you can have Orson and Ocean.

I like the Orson and Isaac suggestion!

Werkzallhourz · 04/02/2017 20:17

This might sound like a bit of a wild one, but have you thought about Luther?

I think Orson and Luther sound quite good together, and Luther is a name that crosses cultural boundaries.

SeveredPixieBits · 04/02/2017 20:21

Another vote for Basso here! Orson and Basso is cool.

WheelchairDay · 04/02/2017 20:24

Orson and Basso sounds good to me. Not sure how it sounds across the park though...
