Natalie?

My other half's favourite name is Natalie. I think it's a lovely name, but can't imagine a baby Natalie. It's a name I would associate with somebody my own age. Just wondering what other people think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I love this name. Also like Nathalie. I've taught plenty of Natalies and therefore associate it with children, but I don't think it's uber popular now?

Shadowboy · 04/02/2017 09:19

I love it. An old friend is called Natalie and we called her Tally when she was a child. A classic name.

HelenDenver · 04/02/2017 09:21

Beautiful name

DontCallMeBaby · 04/02/2017 09:39

I have one Smile She's coming up for 13 now but it suited her perfectly well as a baby. There aren't many young ones around, although at one point a club she belonged to had one a year younger and one a year older, so there are pockets ... but she's never had to be Natalie at school, I consider that a win!

Ordinarily · 04/02/2017 15:36

I like it and it's currently quite unusual.

DialsMavis · 04/02/2017 15:40

I love the name Natalie, it is ageless I think

superking · 04/02/2017 15:41

I met a baby Natalie recently and thought it was lovely. It's due a resurgence! I also like Natasha.

MiniMaxi · 04/02/2017 15:51

Lovely name! Natty or Tallie as childhood nn?

Or Natasha as a similar but different option

Allthebestnamesareused · 04/02/2017 15:52

As long as your surname isn't West - then I think its lovely.

JournosAreLazy · 04/02/2017 15:55

I think it's quite an 80s name but it's probably due a revival. I can't remember coming across any young Natalie's in ages, the ones I know are all in their 30s.

EssentialHummus · 04/02/2017 16:10

I think it's quite an 80s name

Agreed.

I quite like it. Also Natalia.

GreatScot8 · 04/02/2017 18:59

I don't mind it.

I prefer Natasha.

But I hate "Nat" (and "Tash" for Natasha).

CaipirinhasAllRound · 04/02/2017 19:13

I like it. I have a life long friend called Natalie who is always called Nat (or fat nat even though she's never been fat)

ABCFamily · 05/02/2017 02:27

I know a baby Natalie. Although it's a perfectly good name, I still sometimes mentally mix up the names of the baby and her mum because I associate the name Natalie so strongly with people my own age (early thirties). I also know a baby Natalia, and have never confused her with her mum.

I'm aware this is my own odd issue though; so if you love the name, go for it.

Lochan · 05/02/2017 02:32

Natalie is a lovely name and Nattie or Tally are nice nick names.

KoalaDownUnder · 05/02/2017 02:54

I'll have to be the dissenter. I think it's very dated and not that pretty.

It's like calling a baby Michelle or Lisa or Joanne. Total 'mum name'.

mum2be2boys · 05/02/2017 04:49

I'm not a big fan to be honest. I know 3 Natalies, all in their 30s.

GreedyDuck · 05/02/2017 08:40

Not many of the Natalies I know actively like their name, which I think is interesting. Several of them really loathe being called Nat as well.

I knew two awfully mean Natalies at school, so could never use it, even if I liked the way it sounded.
