Ethan or Oscar?

We think we've narrowed down our list of boys names to a top two...

Ethan or Oscar.

Which do you prefer?

Other names left on our list are Adam, Samuel, Ryan and Oliver.

Big brother is Matthew.

To me Ethan will forever be that kid Lizzie had a crush on in Lizzie Maguire.

I love Ethan, but there's one at my boy's preschool and they all pronounce it 'Eefan' like a PP said. If you like it for the 'th' sound, that might drive you nuts!

Pronouncing the 'th' sound as 'ff' does bother me a bit, but it's not a deal breaker. Matthew has the 'th' sound too and most of the children in his pre-school are able to say his name properly so I'm not too worried.

I think part of the problem is that my two favourite names (Daniel and James) have already been used by close family members, and I just can't find anything I like as much as those names!

I'd say Oscar, lovely with Matthew.
I really like Adam with Matthew too!

I like Samuel out of those. I know a lot of Oscars and quite a few Ethans and round here ethans get called eefan by a lot of people. Caspar and victor strike me as similar to oscar but less used.

I've got an Oscar and think it's a great name but go to any platform ground and call "Oscar", about 10 kids will look around...not mine as he completely ignores both of us grr!

I prefer Ethan, but then Ethan Hawke is one of my favourite actors and I havn't heard the name much around here. Oscar seems so common now, and it has a rather try-hard vibe for me (I think it's the new 'Tarquin').

I like all of the other names on the list.

Of the two, Oscar.

But I also like Adam and Samuel and think they go better with Matthew.

Thank you everyone!

I like the names Nathan/Nathaniel but I have an ex called Nathaniel so they aren't an option!

I still like Ethan and Oscar, but neither feel like "the one" The more I think about it, the more I'm drawn to Adam.

I'm sure I used to be able to make decisions!!
