I really like Sebastian. Dh hates it and doesn't want to consider it at all.

He is set on Max which I can warm to, however I'm not too sure about the longer version of it: Maximilian, Maxwell, Maximus, Maxton?Confused
I really want Valentin as a middle name in memory of my late father whom I loved very much.
Sister is Alexandra.

What do you think?

Well I don't think you can have a name that your DH actively dislikes.

I's go for Maxim or Maximillian as longer forms for Max, probably the latter with Valentin as middle name as I think that flows better.

BikeRunSki · 28/01/2017 11:01

I prefer Maxwell. Maxim Valentin sounds a bit jerky.

Stonewash · 28/01/2017 11:12

I like Maximus as full name for Max.

Other long-ish names for boys...

Nathaniel
Gabriel
Benedict
Jonathan
Orlando
Lawrence
Christopher
Benjamin
Theodore

I'm a bit sad because I think I'll have to drop Valentin as i feel it doesn't go with any Max variation at all

Jooni · 28/01/2017 12:06

Why not just Max Valentin? That sounds uber cool.

I love Maxim and Maximilian as longer forms but agree they don't flow too well with Valentin. We're going for Valentin/Valentine as a middle name for DC2 if it's a boy in memory of a Valerie and we've chosen a super short first name to go with it, or it would be a bit of a mouthful IMO. Though as it's an important honour name for you maybe the sentiment trumps the flow of the name?

Sparrowlegs248 · 28/01/2017 12:07

Maxwell is a great name and sounds fine with Valentin.

Pipilangstrumpf · 28/01/2017 13:18

Why not Valentin as a first name?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/01/2017 13:58

I agree with Nottalotta.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 28/01/2017 19:39

Max (as a standalone name) Valentin is great Smile

Sophronia · 29/01/2017 00:27

I like Max Valentin

MitzyLeFrouf · 29/01/2017 00:32

Maxim Valentin sounds like a most excellent baddie.

MitzyLeFrouf · 29/01/2017 00:35

Don't get hung up on how well the names sound together (although I think they work fine!). Valentin is an important name to you and it will 'go' with whatever name you choose because it's the name of your much loved dad.

Katielou75 · 29/01/2017 01:11

I agree that Maxwell Valentin works well- it sounds film star-ish without being too out of the ordinary.

deste · 29/01/2017 21:27

Maximus is very cool and Valentin as a middle name. Perfect.

Joinourclub · 29/01/2017 21:33

Another vote for Maxwell Valentin

Soozikinzi · 29/01/2017 21:38

Max Valentin from me as well x

BadToTheBone · 29/01/2017 21:39

Max Valentin is great

Becklit · 29/01/2017 22:01

I like Max Valentin alone :) Valentin is so unusual and special so a simple first name complements it well x

ferriswheel · 29/01/2017 22:04

I agree with Motta. Or Valentin as a first name, I really like that.

CocoLoco87 · 30/01/2017 01:48

Max Valentin
Maximillian Valentino

mathanxiety · 30/01/2017 05:32

I like the sound of Maximilian Valentin, with Max as the everyday name.

(Really love Valentin).

Redpramlady · 30/01/2017 14:19

Max Valentin
Strong name

Don't drop the middle name! It's lovely

minipie · 30/01/2017 14:28

Max on its own is fine! Max Valentin is great.

Cosmicglitterpug · 30/01/2017 14:34

Or put something between Maxwell and Valentin so it flows better?

Wh4tn4m3 · 30/01/2017 16:44

Aww, thank you everyone. You really made me feel better about it. In all honesty I don't like Valentin enough to have it as a first nameBlush but definitely want to pass it on to my son.
We now need to decide whether we go for Max Valentin or Maxwell Valentin.

I also like Maximilian but my dh is not crazy about it, plus I've read about Maximilians being bullied because of the name, I'm not that sure about it. The bullying is a very new concept to me, we didn't have this back where I'm from when I was a child. Or at least I've never been aware of it.
