Jacob is my all time favourite boy's name (DP vetoed). I know Marcus is less popular but it would be Jacob for me.

lizi311 · 25/01/2017 21:31

Marcus is my favourite ❤

Sophronia · 25/01/2017 21:44

Marcus is more unusual at the moment

crabbied · 25/01/2017 21:45

My husband says the name Marcus reminds him of mucous. That put me off it. And yes it's less popular but that's not the main thing.
I love Jacob though.

dementedma · 25/01/2017 21:46

Marcus

pinkpanther6 · 25/01/2017 21:47

I have a Marcus and we love his name x

punkpuffin · 25/01/2017 21:49

Jacob, I don't really like Marcus tbh

BastardBernie · 25/01/2017 21:51

Ooh I love Marcus, what a lovely name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/01/2017 22:02

Marcus, cool name.

Chatelherault · 25/01/2017 22:08

Marcus, but a short head, but mainly cos I don't love Jake.

notMarlene · 25/01/2017 22:15

Marcus because of the (inevitable) Jake.

meringue33 · 25/01/2017 22:21

Had a massive crush on a beautiful Marcus who was 23 when I was 16. Couldn't understand why he wasn't interested 😂 It is a little toffy though and I can't quite imagine it on a baby.

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 25/01/2017 22:27

Both lovely. I would probably go for Jacob but only if you don't mind that many people will (try to) shorten it to Jake. Marcus doesn't shorten to Mark quite so readily I think.

justanotheryoungmother · 25/01/2017 22:30

I like Jacob more Smile

MollyHuaCha · 25/01/2017 22:31

Marcus

Joeybee · 25/01/2017 23:24

Jacob was so popular about 5 years ago that it completely put me off the name, although I do like Jake as a nn.

Marcus is not as common and can see it growing with a person through their life, much better than with Jacob, which I struggle to see on anyone past the age of 12. Although with Marcus, you'd get the nn Mark probably, not sure about that.

albertcampionscat · 25/01/2017 23:25

Jacob.

DramaAlpaca · 25/01/2017 23:25

Marcus

nookandcrannies · 25/01/2017 23:44

I have a Jacob. Grin
Like the nn Jake too. Good job really!
Marcus sounds quite serious name to me but I do like it.

Jooni · 26/01/2017 13:02

Marcus is lovely. Jacob is quite nice but a bit boring and I don't really like Jake.

MelCookie · 26/01/2017 13:08

Marcus definitely!

Cakingbad · 26/01/2017 13:10

Marcus. Cool name.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 26/01/2017 13:15

Jacob - biased because I have one (which btw never gets shortened to Jake) - neither does DS2's friend Jacob, so I think Jake is seen as a separate name. Marcus is quite nice but I have to say reminds me of a couple of friends of the baby boomer generation with that name.

crabbied · 26/01/2017 13:35

I know two adult Jacobs who have never been Jake.
Marcus very posh IMO. I have known a couple. One did get called Mark but I suspect that was his choice.

mysobus · 26/01/2017 13:39

Marcus, love it!
