When I was pregnant with DS theee years ago, before we found out it was going to be a boy, my DH kept saying if it was a girl he'd like to call her Elise (to rhyme with realise) as he'd always lived it but I really wasn't keen. We discussed other options and stumbled upon Zoe and both liked it but then we had a boy anyway. DH chose our DS's name and although I wasn't keen at first I really love it now - he's almost three.
Anyway, I'm pregnant again (very early days) and the topic of girl's names has come up again, DH still likes Zoe but I've now gone off it. I then bought up the name Elise as it has suddenly really grown on me but he would want to spell it Elyse which I think is just asking for a lifetime of, "How do you pronounce that?"
What do you think? If you saw Elyse written down how world your brain first interpret it? I think Elise is much prettier and clearer about how it's pronounced.
DH also really likes names like Katie, Emily, Sophie etc whereas I prefer more uncommon names, I'm currently liking Jade, Jasmine and I went through a phase of really liking the name Diana but DH said absolutely not to that suggestion
