Can't decide between Ivy or Ruby for a girls name, her middle name will be Lily so either Ivy Lily or Ruby Lily ??

Ivy. Beautiful name.

ProseccoPoppy · 23/01/2017 19:44

Ruby Lily. Definitely, it's really lovely. Smile Ivy is nice too but imo a bit "great aunt" ish.

Stonewash · 23/01/2017 20:10

I like both Ivy and Ruby, but think Ruby sounds better with Lily, otherwise you have 2 plants together (which may not bother you!)

Joeybee · 24/01/2017 01:32

Ivy Lily sounds better to me.

SummerScoop · 24/01/2017 03:23

Ivy

Pluto30 · 24/01/2017 03:25

Ivy Lily is two plants. It doesn't work. Ivy Lillian would work.

Ruby Lily doesn't work either. Two two-syllable names that both end in an ee sound. But it's better than Ivy Lily.

TheDowagerCuntess · 24/01/2017 07:18

Aside from two of them being plants, they're all 2-syllable names ending in 'y'.

I don't think any of the combos work well personally, but they're names you obviously like.

Nospringflower · 24/01/2017 07:21

No, i likeLily but not keen on Ivy or Ruby and especially with Lily.

Coey2016 · 24/01/2017 09:17

Ruby

passingthrough1 · 24/01/2017 09:30

Much much much prefer Ivy.

heyheyhey15 · 24/01/2017 09:32

Both lovely names, but i prefer Ruby

Treadlightly · 24/01/2017 09:35

I have an ivy it's a beautiful name!
( & her best friend is called ruby 😀)

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/01/2017 10:26

Is there a reason for the middle name OP ? It's a lovely name, but doesn't roll off the tongue easily.
I'd go for Ruby Lily, but love Ruby Rose.

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 26/01/2017 23:13

Ivy seems to be getting a lot more popular so depends on if that bothers you or not.

Sapphireshadow · 27/01/2017 07:29

Ivy

pilates · 27/01/2017 08:49

I prefer Ruby, but not sure Ruby Lily flows well.

Ruby Lilian sounds better.

mum2bejen · 27/01/2017 09:43

I prefer Ruby to Ivy. I like the middle name Lily but not sure that it goes well with either of the first names. I like previous suggestions of Lilian instead of Lily.

Chinnygirl · 27/01/2017 09:44

There are s lot of Ivy's being born now. Ruby Lily sounds nice. Plus you can visualise a ruby coloured lily

goldenrachita · 27/01/2017 09:53

Ruby is by far the prettier name. And Ivy Lily is just a weird mix of plants and just sounds sing-songy. ;) Sorry!

I also think Ruby Lily is just too much and isn't elegant. It sounds like you couldn't choose between Ruby and Lily so threw them both in. Lillian or Liliana as a middle name would sound much more elegant. Ruby Liliana is a very feminine name if you prefer a girlier name.

Willialwaysbelookeddownon · 27/01/2017 17:19

Ivy. Ruby is blah

reuset · 28/01/2017 00:11

Ruby

DramaAlpaca · 28/01/2017 00:13

I don't think either of them sound great with Lily, but Ruby works better.

Kahlua4me · 28/01/2017 00:14

Ivy Lillian sounds better

MitzyLeFrouf · 29/01/2017 05:41

Ruby has been done to death so I'd go for Ivy.

MitzyLeFrouf · 29/01/2017 05:42

I don't think it matter what the middle name is because day to day middle names are absolutely irrelevant.
