Classic (maybe even boring) names

I like classic names that have a variety of nn possibilities but are themselves pretty usable names, Elizabeth, Katherine, Charlotte, Victoria for girls. Also loved Amelia before everyone else decided it was cute and recently Meredith has been growing on me, Verity is an absolute favorite but has been taken off the list because of the lack of nn. Girls names I like lots of and its just a case of listing them until DH finds one he likes.

DC2 is due shortly and we have no idea what so ever for boy names, any ideas, along the lines of the girls names we like? Thanks

I love Verity and nicknames don't have to be exactly like the name itself, Margaret/Peggy for example. Meredith is lovely, but not keen on the others

I always thought that Vee/Vee-Vee was a nice nickname for Verity. Similarly, if I ever had DC3 and she were a girl, she'd be Elizabeth with Lulu as a nickname.

Since you like regal names for girls (Elizabeth etc), maybe use that as a starting point for boys too?

Why do you need a nickname? It seems a really odd reason to discount a name you love. I have a long name, but my friends call me something that has absolutely nothing to do with my name instead of all the diminutives that could have been used. Anyway, how about

TDmoocher I don't need a nn. My name doesn't lend itself to being shortened and my brother has never been called anything but his full name in our family. MIL however has conditioned DH that a child should have a name that sits well on the office door of a top financial institution but the family should only ever use a shortened version. I've been trying to change that view for a while but its holding firm so he doesn't really like names that don't fit the requirements.

Loving Rebecca of the girls so far and Lawrence and Julian for the boys. Am wondering and Ernest. I also have a bit of a love of Herbert's but apparently that is not a sensible name for a chief exec.
