Can we do this? Or is it like calling your child Chardonnay? I don't even like the drink! But want middle name to be Daniel for family reasons.

Any other suggestions greatly recieved! Boys names are difficult!

It is marginally better than Captain Morgan.

put another name in between Jack and Daniel

pullingmyhairout1 · 16/01/2017 23:42

Nothing wrong with it. How often do people call anyone by their first and middle names anyway?

Muddlingalongalone · 16/01/2017 23:46

Both nice names, Daniel in particular but tbh I wouldn't put them together. Could you reverse them?

Crumbs1 · 16/01/2017 23:52

Or maybe Blair Athol or Glen Gordon? Johnny Walker?

Daniel Jack? James Daniel? Jacob Daniel? All diminutives of John.

Just not Jack Daniels, poor boy.

DramaAlpaca · 16/01/2017 23:53

I wouldn't. Sorry.

Reality16 · 16/01/2017 23:54

No

BlueberryGateaux · 16/01/2017 23:55

Its a NO from me.

MollyHuaCha · 16/01/2017 23:56

No!

LexieLulu · 16/01/2017 23:58

Daniel is a beautiful name, would you not consider it for their first name?

I find J names a bit overused (I don't want to say common in case that is taken wrong).

Aquamarine1029 · 17/01/2017 03:48

No no NO. It sounds and looks very low rent.

TheMysteriousJackelope · 17/01/2017 04:03

Jack Daniel's name was actually Jasper Newton Daniel.

He was a very interesting man. He left home at the age of 6 due to not getting on with his stepmother. He moved in with a pastor who taught him how to make whisky at the age of 7. He started his distillery when he was 13. When he was 16 the distillery was made official with the US government. His modus operandi for the distillery was 'Every day that we make it, we'll make it the best we can' so he was ahead of his time for quality assurance and Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whisky is made pretty much exactly the same way he made it over a century later. He died at a fairly young age due to getting gangrene in his foot after kicking his office safe in a fit of temper.

I would not consider him 'low rent' but I guess there are enough people out there who do to make the name not the greatest idea.

catsarenice · 17/01/2017 04:07

I would also consider putting an extra middle name in between the Jack and Daniel

chipsnmayo · 17/01/2017 04:28

Nope!

Even Daniel Jack is probably pushing it TBH .

TheCakes · 17/01/2017 07:35

It's a no from me. Sorry.

LyraLupin · 17/01/2017 07:47

Oh dear this is what I thought! Was very against it at the beginning but as getting closer with still no boys name thought I would ask a wider audience.

I love the name Daniel but can't have as first name.

I think that's great it will be a talking point with his mates when he's a teenager I bet he will think it's cool xx

Lweji · 17/01/2017 07:53

Quite frankly, hardly anyone uses both names together. Just the middle initial.
And some jokes or gentle ribbing for Jack Daniels is hardly a big problem.
But maybe you could call him John Daniel, and use the nickname Jack instead. Jack was not originally a name, although it is common now.

Rosie5060 · 17/01/2017 09:51

I agree with Lweji - unless you ask someone or see their ID most middle names go unknown! My youngest brother didn't even know what his middle name was until I told him.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 17/01/2017 09:54

I wouldn't do it.

What about putting another name between, so two middle names.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 17/01/2017 10:34

I would definitely use it, it's a middle name, as he matures, his friends will love his cool name ! 😄
Loved the story Jackelope, thank you for sharing.

Cloeycat · 17/01/2017 10:37

I know a Jack Daniel- he loves it. Don't see anything wrong with it tbh

FourKidsNotCrazyYet · 17/01/2017 10:49

Jack Daniels = Alcoholic parents
Jack and Danny = Fanny.
Nope!

LTBforGin · 17/01/2017 10:53

Daniel James

ArcheryAnnie · 17/01/2017 10:59

I love both names.

I think the Other Connotations are a good thing. I am very keen on my DS not being online-searchable, and if any future employer googles Jack Daniel you will get pages and pages of alcohol-related links, and when they run out a million webpages in, you will get Stargate fanfic links.

There is no name that exists which doesn't have other connotations. If you like it, go for it.

sianihedgehog · 17/01/2017 11:02

Oh god no. Only if he has a brother called Carling.
