DH loves this name. I like it too, though it's a bit longer and fussier than I'd usually go for. I do like the various shortenings though.

What do you think?

Isnt that robbie williams daughters name? They call her teddy i think.
I quite like it.

Tigersteeth · 15/01/2017 22:41

I know a Theodora, nn. Dora. I think it's lovely; feminine but not fussy, simple, rare but easily understood. I thought about calling mine Cora after that!

CannotEvenDeal · 15/01/2017 22:43

It's lovely!

NC1nightstand · 15/01/2017 22:44

It's beautiful!

Sophronia · 15/01/2017 22:54

I like it

GloriousGusset · 16/01/2017 00:28

Fussy and old fashioned.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 16/01/2017 00:31

I prefer the anagram Dorothea

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 16/01/2017 00:32

What about Thea, which is the feminine form of Theo?

Pallisers · 16/01/2017 00:33

Like it but LOVE Dorothea which is a slightly different version (and name of one of the best heroines ever in literature)

Aquamarine1029 · 16/01/2017 01:04

How about Thea instead?

chatnanny · 16/01/2017 01:22

I love it. Keeps options for NNs too, Dora or Thea.

Pluto30 · 16/01/2017 06:41

I really like Theodora. Smile

Strangely don't like Theodore for a boy at all

I know two Theodoras and both get called Theo for short, but I prefer Dora. You could also get Ted/Teddy or Thea.

JournosAreLazy · 16/01/2017 13:21

I like it and I also like the potential nn's Thea, Dora or Teddy.

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/01/2017 13:40

First thought was a Chalet School book where a bad tempered tearaway called Theodora is sent to the Chalet School and undergoes the mandatory name change.

“Has it ever struck you what a ghastly name Theodora is? Enough to make any girl hit the ceiling.”

“...what about ‘Ted’? That’s pounds better! I wouldn’t call a dog I liked ‘Theodora’, but ‘Ted’ has a tang to it.”

Now I wouldn’t go as far as to say 'ghastly' but I do think Theodora is a bit grannyish and cumbersome.

PointlessUsername · 16/01/2017 13:43

I love it!

Jooni · 16/01/2017 14:16

Thanks for the opinions so far. Most seem to quite like it, and I have to say it is growing on me!

Mitzy - the fact it was so unfashionable in the Chalet school era means it's right on trend now though! ;)

Cosmicglitterpug · 16/01/2017 15:13

I love it. I know an adult who goes by Theo.

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/01/2017 15:14

I'm sure you're right chatnanny. It will be a while before Madge and Mary-Lou are back on trend!
