Madeleine

Mummamayhem · 13/01/2017 18:49

Maia is beautiful imo

greenfolder · 13/01/2017 18:52

I have a 19 year old Madeleine. It's been a great name for her. Maddie most of the time. Moo often! Madz as a young teen. It's flexble

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/01/2017 18:54

Madeleine. There are way too many spellings of Maia/Maya/Mya/Mia for life to be straightforward.

Plus Madeleine is nicer Wink

Sophronia · 13/01/2017 19:19

Maia, as I don't like Maddie

Buntysoven · 13/01/2017 23:37

Madeleine Alice.

Maia is fine, but very popular at the moment and liable to being misspelt and mispronounced more often than Madeleine.

CakeRattleandRoll · 14/01/2017 03:39

Madeleine

Grufallosfriend · 14/01/2017 07:23

Maia

Unless you don't shorten Madeleine Maddie sounds less me a mad person and just not feminine imo. But Madeleine esp in French sounds pretty

picklemepopcorn · 14/01/2017 07:26

I don't really like Maia because of the pronunciation issue, and it doesn't roll off the tongue somehow. I like Madeleine- lots of options for pet names if you want them.

Ihearthickson · 14/01/2017 07:34

I have a Maia. It will be mispronounced at times but we adore it and it doesn't bother me at all. Maia Eloise is beautiful.

MrsGB2015 · 14/01/2017 07:38

Madeleine

Jellybluebean · 14/01/2017 16:34

Ooh thanks for all the responses - can't believe how difficult it is to name a baby! Madeleine was my original choice, and love Maddie but think Maia is really pretty....

DD is Lucy - does one of them 'go' better with that?

Maia :) or Maya.

Madeleine has really sad connotations for me personally.

And I think Maia goes better with Lucy.

Firsttimemama2017 · 14/01/2017 18:56

Madeleine is my fave! We are considering it for our baby girl due next week 😊

Also, love the name Lucy!

Jellybluebean · 14/01/2017 22:20

Just seen your other post @firsttimemama2017 - we have the same taste in names. Lucy's middle name is Isabella :)

Madeleine Alice - it sounds elegant and timeless.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/01/2017 10:34

Maia Eloise is lovely, and different.
I'm not very fond of Madeleine.

NewPantsforaNewYear · 23/01/2017 11:20

I think Madeleine is lovely and used to know one nn Lena

I agree with the other posters that there are so many different ways to spell and pronounce Maia. Also Maia Eloise contains an awful lot of vowels!

Stonewash · 23/01/2017 12:06

I prefer Maia Eloise.

Alice is OK, but I'm not keen on Maddie, which would be unavoidable for a Madeleine I think.
