Help - all the girl names we like rhyme with our surname!

My husband and I have been struggling to come up with girls names as nealy all the ones we love end in ELLE ( as well as all the alternative variations such as EL) and our surname is Cordell (emphasis on the 2nd syllable).

The names we love are:

Annabelle
Rosabel or
Gabrielle.

I have thought of putting an "A" on the end of all of these but it just all seems too long winded and complicated.

Does anyone have a similar situation? Or are we thinking too much and the names we like actually sound fine with our surname?

The name for a boy is a dead cert as it is Albie (after my grandad).

All suggestions welcome - even other names that could work well with the surname. Thanks

Personally, I think the rhyming names would be awful. How about Rose Cordell? You could call her Rosie, and she would have the given name of Rose for later in life if she wanted to sound more professional. I think Rosie Cordell is lovely.

How about Rosalie? Rosamond? Rosanna?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 09/01/2017 16:41

Rosalind
Anna/Anneka/Annaliese
Bella

KoalaDownUnder · 09/01/2017 16:43

Rosa
Rosetta
Anna
Annalise
Roseanna
Rosemary

mistermagpie · 09/01/2017 16:44

Rosalind? Abigail?

Ilovecaindingle · 09/01/2017 16:44

Gabrielle with nn Gabby is the best of your choices!!

MollyHuaCha · 09/01/2017 16:45

I wouldn't make the names deliberately rhyme, but I wouldn't judge you if you chose to! I like the idea of turning the -elle into -ella.

MsCoconut · 09/01/2017 16:51

I would pick a variant of one of the names that doesn't rhyme especially if you are going to call her by a nickname like Rosie, Gaby or Bella anyway. I especially like Rosalie and Gabriella. Actually, they are all nice names

MarmiteDoesYouGood · 09/01/2017 16:51

I don't think Gabriella is any more "long-winded" or complicated than Gabrielle. It's one extra syllable, ooooh!

It also sounds much better with your surname and is actually a nicer name in general Smile

EssentialHummus · 09/01/2017 16:54

I don't think Gabriella is any more "long-winded" or complicated than Gabrielle.

Agreed.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 09/01/2017 17:15

Rosabel! I've never heard that, it's pretty (sorry not helping)

Rosalie seems a good compromise.

TaggieRR · 09/01/2017 17:19

I think putting an A on would be fine.

TaggieRR · 09/01/2017 17:19

Instead of an e I mean

HelenaJustina · 09/01/2017 17:21

Gabriella Cordell is lovely

Jooni · 09/01/2017 18:16

Rosalie, Rosanna, Gabriella and Annelise are good suggestions.

Rosalba? Annelie? Isabella/Isabetta?

FWIW, I don't think ---elle Cordell is a deal-breaker. It kind of reminds me of Annabel Karmel and it's worked fine for her - it actually makes the name more memorable in a way.

museumum · 09/01/2017 18:19

Isabella or Gabriella Cordell are both lovely.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/01/2017 18:23

Amy Cordell
Sophie Cordell
Megan Cordell
Hannah Cordell
Olivia Cordell
Jasmine Cordell

sqidsin · 09/01/2017 18:25

Coralie Cordell

KissMeKate85 · 09/01/2017 20:17

Thanks for the suggestions Smile

I mentioned Rosalie to my husband and we both like it so that may be an option.

Also Annabella is now an option. Would choose single syllable middle names with both so that the name is not too long.

Do you like Arabella?

MollyHuaCha · 09/01/2017 20:56

Interesting what PP said about Annabel Karmel - yes, her name does work. I've never heard her name pronounced, but I'm guessing the stress is on the first syllable: KARmel, which makes it different to the OP's situation.

Jooni · 09/01/2017 21:38

No it's definitely Kar-MEL

Zippidydoodah · 09/01/2017 21:39

Gabriella/ anabella/ Isabella all work absolutely fine with Cornell! They sound great Smile

-ella names sound fine.

-elle names are a bit comedy/pornstar-ish
