Can I have a Summer Eve?

We are definitely set on Summer - DH and I both love it and it's the only name we can both agree on :) and Eve is a family name on both sides. Does it sound silly? Like you're saying Summer Evening??

Summer Eve/Dove, sounds very pretty.

PurpleDaisies · 09/01/2017 14:05

Summer Dove sounds like a farrow and ball paint.

Why not Summer Aoife? Or Summer Eva?

Would still honour the relative but wouldn't look like... well, a summer eve.

KoalaDownUnder · 09/01/2017 16:47

My first thought was that Summer Eve sounds like a feminine hygiene product. According to a pp, it actually is one.

So that's a no from me.

Summer Evelyn?
Summer Yvette?

Summer Doris just sounds silly, tbh - the names are poles apart in style.

Aquamarine1029 · 09/01/2017 17:04

Oh god, NO. Summer's Eve is the name of a douche in the US.

WhyOhWine · 09/01/2017 17:10

Stick another name in the middle. Friend of mine did that when the first and middle names she wanted were problematic together (spoonerism in her case).

Jooni · 09/01/2017 18:21

In that case I'd not use a middle name. Eve is lovely but with Summer it's too "wordy".

Smallangryplanet · 09/01/2017 18:26

Is this a joke?

As others have said, it's the name of a vaginal double. Call her Fanny Shower.

TheMysteriousJackelope · 09/01/2017 18:29

It is lovely but unfortunately I also have to point out that Summer's Eve is a brand of vaginal douche.

The name does crop up in films occasionally too so it's not like she can avoid it by never going to the US. A remake of 'Attack of the 50 Foot Woman' features a tanker truck of Summer's Eve going up to the barn where she lives.

Stonewash · 09/01/2017 18:31

As suggested above, what about an extra middle name in between? Do the Eve and Doris from your family have middle names you like, or you could add in your own first or middle name? I also like the idea of a longer name which includes Eve, e.g. Summer Evelyn, Summer Genevieve.

Summer Genevieve

I like it.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 09/01/2017 19:18

I once met a May Ball. That's not helping is it? Grin

GruochMacAlpin · 09/01/2017 19:20

Why does the middle name have to be a family name?

We gave our DD an unusual first name and a more classic middle name so that she'd have a choice.

Pluto30 · 09/01/2017 19:46

Summer's Eve feminine hygiene products are all that come to mind.

ToffeeForEveryone · 09/01/2017 19:51

No. Just no.

No. NO.

NOOOOOOOOOO.

No.

lifeisazebracrossing · 09/01/2017 20:34

This reminds me of the time one friend wanted to call her daughter Georgie (surname Michael) and the other her son Harry (surname Porter). Years on, it still makes me laugh!

SausageSoda · 09/01/2017 21:29

As a PP suggested, I'd go for two middle names with Eve being the last one.

WyfOfBathe · 10/01/2017 00:07

Summer Doris Eve?
Summer Eva/Everlie/Evelyn/Evangeline?

31weeksgone · 10/01/2017 00:20

What's the Evie treatment then? Hmm

31weeksgone · 10/01/2017 00:21

@VintagePerfumista Confused

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 10/01/2017 04:27

Summer Doreen? Bit of Eve and Doris in there. Personally I liked Summer Eve.

GingerLDN · 14/01/2017 02:00

Summer Niamh? Sounds v similar.
