DS2 is due in May, already named Lincoln. We had Phillip as a middle name but are having a wobble on it. DP would really like to include something to do with his mum as a middle name, only problem is her name is Sharon and there's no masculine version. We're not too keen on dropping the 'Sh' and having Aron. Anyone have any other ideas? Her middle name or surname don't work either.

Could he have her maiden name as a middle name (provided she is married)?

Isn't Sharon (pronounced Sha-ron, emphasis on Ron rather than Sharun) a male Israeli name?

I agree, Sharon is difficult. I don't think there's a masculine version...? I do know that Shari is a nickname of Sharon. I think Shari sounds quite unisex?

Anyhow, according to behindthename Shari can also stand for Sherry. So, maybe that would be an option?

Or what is her favourite name? Or maybe her favourite town/activity?

Or maybe the season she was born in? Winter could work as a boy's name, for example. Or Wren is also associated with that season.
Pretty much each season has seasonal names primarily associated with it imo.

Or you could look at her birthday to se if it's a name day of a name you happen to like?

Was she especially close to her dad growing up and could have your dp's grandfathers name as a middle name? Ron is nice as pp said! My little boys middle name is Ronnie after my dads brother Ronald

Her maiden name was something quite 'death' related so not workable.

I didn't know it was used as a male name anywhere actually! I'll put it to DP, but not sure he'll go for it as he's quite traditional about definite boy/girl names.

Her birthday is February, so I'll double check the date and see if there's a name associated with it.

She wasn't sadly, I don't think DP has ever met his grandfather, that was one of my suggestions, in the hopes we'd find something! Personally I'm happy with Phillip, but I'm happy to change it if we find something that fits so he feels his mum is more included.

My middle name is the 1st 2 letters of of my DF's name combined with the 1st 2 letters of my DM's name - i guess it's fortunate that they actually combine like this to make a ' real name' - I always loved hearing as a child how they picked my name! would something like that work? - take letters from MIL and your DM?

That method gives me Shaire, Ngairon or if I take the 'a' away, Shire. Which I actually loved until I said it out loud! Lincoln Shire! I like the pronunciation of Ngairon, but sadly it doesn't flow too well. Wish that had worked actually! Thank you though.

And we're not Catholic, but I'll check her birthdate to see if that throws up something. We may just have to stick to Phillip.

Are you interested in names that mean the same? Blair has the same meaning / similar meaning to Sharon. Might be a bit too political, though.

First 3 letters gives me the combos of Shanga, Ngasha, Phisha, Sharphi, Ngaphi or Phinga.

DP liked Ngairon ( pronounced Ny-Ron) so I reckon he'll go for that. We chose 'Lincoln' together so I don't mind him choosing the MN. Equally I'm happy with Phillip.

Problem is, DP suggested it in the hopes of finding an obviously masculine version we'd never heard of. Something that clearly could be traced back to his mum. I reckon it's just too tricky a name to fiddle with and still be intact enough to use and not need a complicated explanation on how it's linked to his mum.

Instead of Sharphi Shariph could be an option? Sharif is a real name, it means virtuous, I think.. And seeing as the English spelling is phonetic anyway Shariph could work.
