Claire?

We've recently found out that we are having a baby girl! I love, love, love the name Claire. We think it's gorgeous, very French sounding and uncommon. Her name would be Claire Victoria. My husband is in love as am I but I wanted to ask your opinions on Claire Victoria. We won't do Victoria Claire because I don't like Vicky or Tori. Her older sisters are Olivia Beatrice and Madeline Laura. Do you think Olivia, Madeline and Claire go well together?

I think it is a very pleasant name but just a bit dated so I wouldn't use it unless it was for a middle name.

HeCantBeSerious · 14/01/2017 13:44

I've a cousin called Claire. I like it. Her middle name starts with a G, but how often do you use or say your middle names?

How it sounds depends on the accent. Claire said in a Liverpudlian accent doesn't sound at all French.

Nospringflower · 14/01/2017 13:49

I think it's ok - very plain and not French sounding. I think your other daughters have beautiful names and think this poor wee baby is the plain Jane of them all!

MollyHuaCha · 14/01/2017 13:53

Claire is a beautiful name. To me Claire is strong, intelligent and feminine. Goes well with Victoria. I love it.

MrsMeeseeks · 14/01/2017 14:15

I went to a girls' school in the 1980s and every class had at least two Claires. I can't believe it's considered by some to be unusual! To me, it's one of the standard 70s names, like Nicola, Michelle, Emma or Joanne.

Izzyathome · 14/01/2017 16:40

I don't dislike it, but to be honest if my sisters were called Olivia and Madeleine I'd feel a bit hard done by being the Claire.

Joeybee · 23/01/2017 09:17

Beautiful name, and my fave spelling of it too. Also Claire Victoria seems to flow really well, sounds classy and timeless.
If I didn't have family by the name Clare, then I'd totally use it.

ClaireSunflower · 03/02/2017 19:56

I like Claire Victoria, although as a Claire I may be biased! I am a Claire Eloise. Congratulations and good luck deciding on the final name!

I really like Claire Victoria OP. Great name.

lamprey42 · 03/02/2017 22:48

I like it. Goes well with the sibling names. Probably won't be popular again in UK for a few decades (although becoming more popular in n. America - no. 33 in Canada last year).

EmmaWoodlouse · 04/02/2017 20:12

I like it and would love to see it revived (ditto Jane). Oddly enough I usually prefer the Clare spelling but I think Claire somehow goes better with your other DDs' names - it looks more sort of lively and sunny, whereas I think of Clare as suiting someone very quiet. Illogical, I know!

llangennith · 04/02/2017 20:14

Claire is a lovely name and timeless.

KlingybunFistelvase · 04/02/2017 20:36

I'm not keen. It's a little clunky sounding to me.

buttercup54321 · 04/02/2017 23:16

Claire is beautiful and goes well with your other girls names. Victoria is nice for middle name. Or Louise.
