These seem to be regarded as "stereotypical" Australian names. In fact, I would have been named Kylie had Mum had a girl.

Thoughts on Leonie and Kylie as names?

I love Léonie.

Sorry, I meant to type Leonie . (My phone's French Blush ).

Kylie not so good, bit on the dated side.

Leonie I must say I didn't know of any Australian connection. I have French connections and it's a very popular and long established name in France. Léonie I would spell it. Now you can see the correct pronunciation Grin

I'm Australian. Have only ever known one leonie and probably surprisingly a handful Australians and kiwis called Kylie in my entire life (Kylie Minogue excluded of course)

whatatod0 · 08/01/2017 23:23

how is Leonie pronounced? Is it Leer-knee?

KoalaDownUnder · 09/01/2017 00:58

Lee-OH-nee

Loads of Leonies where I live in Australia. A middle-aged name like Karen, etc.

Also meant to say that Kylie is an age 30s-40s name too. You don't get babies called Kylie or Leonie, in my experience.
