Noa for a boy?

Noa is a boys name in Wales (pronounced Noah) but a quick google search has revealed that it's commonly used as a girls name. What do you think of it for a boy? We prefer this spelling as we are Welsh.

Unless you're actually in Wales, I'm guessing you'll always have to spell it for people. As will your son.

lucieloos · 05/01/2017 23:29

We don't mind having to spell it. It's not as though it's a complex name and there are plenty of other names that we like that would involve some degree of spelling as well.

It's lovely.

SuburbanRhonda · 05/01/2017 23:32

Go for it then!

Pluto30 · 05/01/2017 23:32

Noa is a girl's name.

Noah is the boy's name.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 05/01/2017 23:33

If you're Welsh and that's the Welsh spelling I'd go for it! A lot of people won't even be aware of Noa as a girls' name.

Thingymaboob · 05/01/2017 23:33

I'm Welsh. Noa is definitely a girls name.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 05/01/2017 23:37

But if it's not in fact a legitimate Welsh name, well then I'd advise sticking with Noah!

ophiotaurus · 05/01/2017 23:40

Noa was a perfume wasn't it?
I would go for the traditional Noah spelling.

ophiotaurus · 05/01/2017 23:41

It is a perfume by Cacharel.

I too would go for Noah for a boy.

early30smum · 06/01/2017 00:25

I love the name, but would definitely spell it Noah for a boy/Noa for a girl.

Aquamarine1029 · 06/01/2017 04:22

Noa for a boy will constantly be misspelled.

RussianCoffee · 06/01/2017 06:10

Do you actually live in Wales?

Is Noa well known as boy's name where you are?

To me, Noa is a girl's name. Unless you can answer "yes" to the above (at least the 2nd one) I would avoid.

Dontrocktheboat · 06/01/2017 13:10

Noa is a girl's name.

Noah is better for a bit imo.

Joeybee · 23/01/2017 09:00

Noa seems a bit feminine, I much prefer the Noah spelling. Plus, though you might not mind spelling Noa's name all the time, he might!
Although, if it is important to you to spell it 'Noa' then go for it, it's still a nice name.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 23/01/2017 09:04

Noa is a girl's name. Go for Noah, make your life and your baby's life simpler!
