Name pronounciation

We're thinking of calling our daughter Kaya, but I'm unsure if it will get pronounced the right way or not.
Other potential spellings:
Kaiya
Caia

I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Kara is nice, kaya sounds abit harsh

Not heard of Kaya before. But if I saw it written down I would assume the same pronunciation as you. Hope that helps

Just so you know- Kaya is quite a well known slang term for weed (see Bob Marley song 'Kaya')

My friend has a Dd called Kaya

She pronounces like Kayak without the k

She's always correcting people as some people insist on Kay-ah

I'd pronounce it like Soubriquet says, like kayak without the last k.

Another alternative spelling would be Kaia.

I'd pronounce it KIE-ah, is that what you're going for? I do think you'll get some Kay-ah as well, depends how much that will bother you.

I would pronounce Kaia as Kye-ah.

I would assume it was K-eye-ah. Probably because of the Bob Marley song. And rhymes with Maya and fire.

But I suppose it could quite easily be Kaya to rhyme with layer.

I think the point here is that the child will spend its life correcting how people pronounce her name. Incidentally my sister has a friend called Kia (like kayak without the k)

I know 2 Kayas (both boys actually) and both are pronounced kye-a
Don't add random extra letters. Kaya is fine.

Thanks all. K-eye-a as in rhymes with fire is what we want. Responses confirm to me though that Kaya will be pronounced by some as Kay-ya (as in layer) and so we'll probably go for Kaiya.
