Thoughts on Patrick

Opinions on Patrick? Not too dated? A little common amongst my family, but that's because they are all a little fixated on their Irish heritage.

Our DS is Tom (Thomas Benedict on bc). Are we just being boring rather thank classic if we choose Patrick?

Not keen on Pat as a nickname, but like Paddy and Patch, so hopefully could steer everyone away from it.

Thoughts appreciated.

Love it. Patrick doesn't have to be shortened but Paddy and Patch are cute.

Titsalinabumsquash · 02/01/2017 14:26

Love it! Not keen on Paddy or Patch though (Patch is an animals name imo!)

sleepachu · 02/01/2017 14:27

What about Padraig/Padraic if you've Irish connections? Then nicknames can be paddy/patch/paudie.

Planetarymagic1 · 02/01/2017 14:29

Love it

KoalaDownUnder · 02/01/2017 14:35

Don't like it at all.

Three babies have been named Patrick in my friend/acquaintance group recently. Each time I've been secretly Hmm.

I just hate the sound of it. (Sorry.)

EllaHen · 02/01/2017 14:39

I love it. Also love Paddy and Patch as nn.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/01/2017 14:46

I think it's a lovely name.

BroomstickOfLove · 02/01/2017 14:47

I think it's lovely.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/01/2017 14:50

Lovely name!

AgentCooper · 02/01/2017 14:52

I love, love, love it. It's a name that's been in every generation of my family since forever. But there are currently three living Patricks in my family so I'll probably just use as a middle name if I get the opportunity!

JunebabyT · 02/01/2017 14:53

I like it

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 02/01/2017 15:38

It's great, on my list for a boy one day.

Never heard of Patch as a nn before! I like it.

DramaAlpaca · 02/01/2017 15:40

I love it.

It's DH's middle name, and also DS2's.

We used it as a middle name because although I love Patrick I don't like any of the diminutives.

Sophronia · 02/01/2017 15:51

I love it, and it goes so well with Thomas.

Aquamarine1029 · 02/01/2017 17:08

I've never liked Patrick and Pat as a nn is HORRIBLE. I know 2 people who named their son Patrick and always tried to prevent people from calling the boys "Pat." It didn't work and both couples regret choosing the name.

TheLivingAsheth · 02/01/2017 17:10

I love it, but couldn't use it as surname also ends with "ick"

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/01/2017 17:11

Love it.

Unfortunately I think you need to call him Paddy from the start as Pat is awful.

Paddy is fab though.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/01/2017 17:13

Ds1 has a friend calked Patrick, known him from when they were little.....his little friends started called him,Patsy!...thereafter his mum and dad thought Paddy was great.

MiniMaxi · 02/01/2017 17:31

I like it!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/01/2017 17:43

Truly fabby, love Patch and Paddy equally.

Jooni · 02/01/2017 20:59

Nice name. Paddy and Patch are good nns too.

buttercup54321 · 02/01/2017 23:46

Love Patrick. Go for it xx

hoddtastic · 02/01/2017 23:48

love it, was going to be DS2's name but changed mind at the last minute-

I also liked Fergus, Francis, Seamus, Tadhg, Declan.

SwedishEdith · 03/01/2017 00:10

It's lovely. And I like Pat for a man (much more than for a woman).

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 03/01/2017 00:15

Like it. Paddy is great but Pat and Patch are terrible.
