How do we double-barrel this surname?

I have NCed and will probably end up getting this deleted, but it's not possible to explain the issue without putting the names.

My surname is 'Olivier' and DP's is 'du Berry'. How would you double-barrel DP's surname? He has no idea...

Would it just be Olivier-du Berry/du Berry-Olivier??? I just think that looks a bit weird!

Thanks.

I thought there was a convention. Of course you can call yourself whatever you like in reality. Unless it's really rude (I think, or maybe not).

Wonderful, thank you! Yes, du is lower case, so would keep it like that :) I secretly wanted my surname first, so happy that sounds better!

Olivier du Berry seems the most popular. We will probably get married at some point, so we would both take Olivier du Berry as our surname also.

I really like it. Sounds very classy!

Olivier du Berry. How utterly fabulous!

Olivier du Berry is fabulous.

I do like Du Berry-Olivier as well. But I really don't think that you can top Olivier du Berry!

IpDipCatnip · 31/12/2016 23:24

Olivier first, nice name!

KanyesVest · 31/12/2016 23:28

I had a lovely friend in school whose surname was duBerry. I've never come across the surname other than her family.

But in relevant posting, I agree, Olivier du Berry is a great option.

If a boy you could use Olivier as first mame?

Aquamarine1029 · 01/01/2017 19:14

I think I would use Olivier as the middle name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/01/2017 17:47

What a wonderful name OP !

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 02/01/2017 19:56

Olivier du Berry is swoonsome!

Nearly as nice as Figglesworth Spiffington Grin

Btw... I don't think Oliver should be a middle name.

Oliver du Berry is lovely. Certainly nicer than the name DD (and DH) are stuck with. The pronunciation still trips me up if I'm not careful. But then again, my first language isn't English. So, maybe I'm feeling sorry for any future teachers for nothing ;)
