1 syllable for me it'd flow better e.g. Mackenzie James Smith....

Only for James, IMO well, names ending in S, that are 1 syllable. I do think 2+ work better.

Don't understand the syllable angst. When do you ever refer to yourself as first name/middle name/surname?

There isn't a male and female spelling.

Mac means "son of" No idea what Kenzie means.

Mackenzie means "son of Kenneth"

I know its a zombie thread but if we are going to get this right then the female equivalent of MacKenzie is NicKenzie i.e daughter of Kenneth.
