First baby, DH won't agree on anything apart from Alice... I don't love it but I'll use it. I tried to compromise by nick naming her Alice and having Alison on the birth cert. Not an option apparently.

I wanted Lydia so badly Angry

Anywhooo, what about middle names? Things I've considered are

Helen (my Mum's name)

Posy (love it, loved the book as a child. Thanks to the other OP)

Diana

Delphine

Athen

Any ideas? What do you think of them?

I've not read the other replies so i'm sorry if i'm repeating what's already been said. Could you go with Alice but nn her licia/lissia or licie/lissie? Both are similar to Lydia?

GettingitwrongHauntingatnight · 15/12/2016 13:12

Anything but Alison

GettingitwrongHauntingatnight · 15/12/2016 13:13

Lydia is lush. Dh is being ridiculious, mainly for watching such trash. denies knowing who Lydia is

DuchessMinnie · 15/12/2016 13:53

I have a Lydia. She!s 7 and recently told me she loved her name and thanked me for choosing it Wink sorry, that doesn't help much does it.

Yika · 15/12/2016 15:40

Artemis is pronounced Arti-miss with the stress on the Ar.

I also love Daphne and it sounds very much in the same vein as the Greek-style names that you list.

SorenaJ · 15/12/2016 18:53

Im probably the only one, but I like Alison. Like Alice even better though.

Lydia - okay

Helen - it's nice. I like Helena better.

Diana - love Diana!

I really don't like Posy

Delphine - reminds me of Voldemorts daughter in Harry Potter.

Athen - I'm not sure. I like Athena.

NameChangeGhosty · 15/12/2016 19:26

Sorena Voldie doesn't have a daughter?!

ineedbanoffee · 15/12/2016 19:31

I have an Alice Eleanor.

My DH won't let me have Lydia :D

Going on your other names you might like Daphne?

EverySongbirdSays · 15/12/2016 19:33

I think Alice Delphine works best.

Like you I would prefer Lydia and Lydia Alice works

Don't name her anything you don't love, that happened to a friend of mine whose DP insisted on a certain name about which she wasn't keen, and has quietly admitted since she really dislikes. DP is long gone and the child is stuck with it.

You have to have a name you both equally like

ineedbanoffee · 15/12/2016 19:33

Couldn't you go for Alice Lydia?

BingBongBam · 15/12/2016 19:36

Posy or Alice

EverySongbirdSays · 15/12/2016 19:36

Blimey Sorena SPOILER much?

Ghosty Flowers

Gene9 · 15/12/2016 19:38

Okay so it's a no for Alice. Brought Diana up again with DH today - his reply? "We should consider that actually"

Daphne reminds me of Scooby-Doo

Fridgedooropen · 15/12/2016 19:40

Yay! Really glad you have spoken up and your DH has listened. And now you might have a name you both like in the frame! I think Diana would be nice.

EverySongbirdSays · 15/12/2016 19:41

I think Diana is a lovely idea and massively underused, she won't have any others in her class and perhaps not even in her year at senior school

EvenTheWind · 15/12/2016 19:51

Yay

Frazzled2207 · 15/12/2016 19:52

Alice Diana
Or
Diana Helen
Both lovely. I feel for you, my dh was a stubborn arse too.
We didn't agree until both kids were 2/3 weeks old

MiniAlphaBravo · 15/12/2016 20:27

I like Diana Helen or Diana Alice

dimdommilpot · 15/12/2016 20:28

I grew up with a Lydia. She never got Lydia chlamydia. Or Lydia dustbin. I now have a Lydia and have yet to hear it. Though she is only 2...
I dislike Alice. No real reason.
I understand this is no help!

Gene9 · 15/12/2016 20:31

Thank you!

I'm Spanish and quite dark, DH has reservations that Diana won't suit a tanned child but she's being named after my Nan! (Of whom is darker than me and looks nothing like princess Di)

OP posts:
longestlurkerever · 15/12/2016 20:34

I live Alicia and Eleanor that have already been suggested. Also Abigail which might suit?

Fridgedooropen · 15/12/2016 20:54

But the mythological Diana, the huntress, is always pictured with dark hair to my knowledge.

Gene9 · 15/12/2016 20:56

I'll have a Google Fridge

OP posts:
EvenTheWind · 15/12/2016 21:03

Diana Ross!

I don't think of Diana as a fair/blonde name

LotsoNumbers · 15/12/2016 21:03

I quite like Diana. I also really like Bianca but that's quite Eastende rs
