I wouldn't shorten Marina - its beautiful and easily said. Lovely name.

Marina is beautiful. I don't think you can choose a nickname though. It just comes naturally. I was meant to call my DD by a name that related to her name (but not a shortened version of it if that makes sense) but she just gets called her actual name or demon. Hmm she answers to both quite happily.

Pipilangstrumpf · 14/12/2016 21:57

My dd has a 3 syllable name that never gets shortened - there is no rule that says every name needs a nicknamd Grin

Aw thank you Smile you're right my son always gets called by his full name too! Nicknames can't be easily predicted.. But I'm too impatient I want her here now!! Smile

My friend is Marina. her name is very rarely shortened, but when it is, it's Maz.

If DS3 had been a girl he would have been Marina nn Marnie. 15 years later I still love Marnie.

Annette My DGM was Marion and everyone called her Maz!!

Through Yes I agree it is beautiful!

I'm so glad everyone loves this name- my DP actually chose it (I picked our sons name) I wanted to call her Bonnie!
